Bond’s U10 Basketball Team Wins the Championship!

On February 5th, our U10 Co-ed Basketball team played in their final tournament.  Bond sailed through the round robin competition with a perfect 3 and 0 record, defeating Tall Pines School, Unionville Montessori School and Richmond Hill Montessori School to finish first overall in their division! Bond controlled the play in all aspects of the game from tip-off to final buzzer.  They showed discipline, support for each other and excellent team spirit!

Bond advanced to the quarter-finals where they played Aurora Montessori School. This game showed a full team effort from the entire bench and saw Bond register a score of 31 to 4, the highest scoring game in the tournament.

As Bond moved into the semi-finals, they had to face Tall Pines again who had seen our plays and adjusted their lineup. This was a challenging game for Bond and they were down for the first time in the day and got discouraged. It was this adversity that forced them to come together as a team and regain their style of play. They battled back and beat Tall Pines 20-15 in a hard fought game.

Bond went on to the championship game where they played Richmond Hill Montessori School again. The championship game was full of intensity with both teams rallying back and forth the entire game. It came down to tough work, preparation and team play and Bond ended up winning the banner with a final score of 17-16!

"The day was so exciting, the team played as a unit and supported each other through each and every play! Almost every player registered at least one basket and the ones that didn't contributed in so many other ways." said Ms Lee, the Coach of Bond's U10 Basketball Team, " I could not be more proud of this entire team and all your hard work and positivity! Thanks for an amazing season and another banner! Way to go U10s! "

Honourable mentions go to Fallon for being the top female in the tournament and to Gillian for proving to herself how tough and confident she should always be. And to Angelo for his amazing quarter-final game and to Rahil for his excellent rebounding! The gladiator of the tournament goes to Dabiye for being the rock on and off the court!

"Dabiye is an excellent captain, and he proved that hard work and dedication makes people great and wins championships! I am so proud of him for earning that moment for himself!" Ms Lee added.
