On September 17th, 2014, a firefighter from Fire Station #32, and a female firefighter in training, came to Bond Academy to demonstrate what do in the case of an emergency.  Students from both Montessori I and Montessori II took part in the demonstration.  For some, this was their first exposure to fire safety awareness.  The visiting firefighter in training is a person the children know and are comfortable with, since she has worked at Bond!

They presented a visual display of fire safety and showed the children the firefighter’s boots, jacket, pants and other firefighting equipment. To ensure that they would not be frightened by the way firefighters look when dressed to fight a fire, the firefighter in training put on the entire outfit.  Later some of the children were given the opportunity to try on some of the items, too!

The children enjoyed the presentation and came away with a greater awareness of fire safety and how to respond and react in the event of an emergency.  Safety is #1!
