This school year, the student enrolment of Bond Academy’s elementary school reached its highest number to date and, on September 18, 2014, Bond welcomed the parents to our “Meet the Teacher Evening”.
Prior to Mr. John Healey, the Elementary School Principal, meeting with parents in the gym, the parents enjoyed refreshments with the compliments of the Bond Parent Council, served by student volunteers from Bond’s Secondary School.
Mr. Healey outlined Bond’s policies, including the integrated care environment and Bond’s security procedures, including lock-down and emergency procedures. Ms Jackie Joachim, Chair of Bond Parent Council, introduced the Parent Council members and welcomed parents, especially those new to Bond, and thanked everyone for their support.
Following the presentation in the gym, parents went to meet and speak to the teachers in the Montessori, Kindergarten and Grades 1 - 8 classrooms. Each teacher outlined their classroom expectations and programs. It also afforded the opportunity for parents to meet one another.
Parents enjoyed viewing their children's work, which included written stories and drawings, etc., displayed in the classroom and on the bulletin board. They were very impressed by the students' use of rich and bright colours, funny pictures and sense of humour expressed through their works.
It is our hope that the parents came away with a broader sense of Bond Academy's educational expectations, concepts, and practices.
