On October 29, 2015, the kindergarten to high school students of Academie de la Capitale participated in the school's biannual Rube Goldberg Fair. This was a culmination of six weeks worth of work designing, building, testing, and ultimately displaying Rube Goldberg Machines, also known as chain reaction machines. These "machines" are designed to perform a specific simple task, but in a way that it much more complicated that would usually be expected.
The theme of the fair this year was Halloween, so working in teams, older students designed 12-step machines that smashed a pumpkin, while younger students made 8-step machines to drop a candy in a basket. Creativity, perseverance and cooperation were needed to build working machines. Students were extremely engaged in all stages of the process, and were very excited to show their work to the entire school. Congratulations to all participants on a job very well done!
