MESSAGE FROM THE LEADERSHIP
We invited Shezin Remtulla, Executive Director of Education at Unionville College, to share a message.
The overview highlights the vision, values, and guiding principles that shape leadership and the student experience at Unionville College.
Shezin Remtulla, Executive Director of Education
At Unionville College, we believe education should be both deeply personal and purposefully challenging. Our goal is not simply to prepare students for the next grade level, but to help them become confident, capable, and compassionate individuals who are ready for the opportunities and responsibilities that lie ahead.
Since our founding in 1987, Unionville College has remained grounded in the principles that define a strong educational experience: meaningful relationships, academic excellence, and a genuine respect for how children learn and grow. Today, those values guide students across our two campuses, from Pre-Casa through Grade 12.
At our Unionville campus, students begin their journey in authentic Montessori classrooms from Pre-Casa through Senior Casa, where hands-on learning and student independence are central to the educational experience. In Grades 1 through 6, that foundation evolves into a rigorous elementary program that combines academic challenge with character development, creativity, and leadership. Students learn through a year-ahead curriculum in core academic subjects while continuing to benefit from the individualized attention and strong relationships that have long defined Unionville College. We also offer a Gifted Program beginning in Grade 4, providing enriched learning opportunities tailored to the distinct learning needs of students identified as gifted.
At our Stouffville campus, students in Grades 7 through 12 builds upon that foundation through a rigorous academic program that includes small class sizes, Advanced Placement (AP) courses, a continued Gifted Program through Grade 8, and a reach-ahead curriculum designed to prepare them for competitive university pathways. While expectations grow as students mature, our commitment to personalized attention and strong teacher-student relationships remain unchanged.
Beyond the classroom, students have opportunities to discover their passions through athletics, leadership initiatives, community involvement, and a growing range of STEAM-focused programs and competitions. The arts are also an integral part of the UC experience. Through vocal and instrumental music, drama, and visual arts, students are encouraged to develop their creativity, confidence, and self-expression. Supported by dedicated learning spaces and specialized facilities across our campuses, these programs help students grow in ways that extend far beyond academics.
What makes Unionville College truly special, however, is our community. Our educators know their students well, our families are highly engaged, and our students feel a genuine sense of belonging. It is a community built on trust, shared values, and a belief that every child has unique strengths to contribute.
As we continue to grow and celebrate important milestones, including our inaugural graduating class in 2027, we remain focused on delivering a seamless educational journey from the earliest years through university preparation.
Thank you for your interest in Unionville College. We look forward to welcoming you to our campuses and sharing firsthand what makes our community such a unique place to learn, grow, and thrive.
