• The Prestigious Alumni Awards (PAA) are presented to alumni who have made significant contributions in their professional or personal lives in the areas of Philanthropy, Business, Arts, and Personal Achievement. Candidates can be self-nominated or brought forward by alumni, faculty, family, friends or students and are then deliberated upon by the Selection Committee who carefully consider the five criteria for nomination: Vision and Leadership; Innovation and Achievement; Impact; Growth/ Development Strategy; and Community Involvement and Contribution. The awards are presented annually in the Fall as a collaborative event between the College and the Alumni Committee. This event begins with a morning reception held at the College with the entire student body in attendance where the recipients are publicly honored by their peers for their achievements. A luncheon follows the reception for the recipients and special guests. The celebrations resume in the evening with an off-campus cocktail reception for Alumni, current and past recipients, friends, and family to commemorate the achievements of the award recipients but also to reminisce in our shared experience as WICers. • West Island College’s Alumni Relations Office strives to maintain a lifelong connection with our alumni who share the same pride and excitement for West Island College. It is of great importance to the College to build and strengthen relationships with our alumni by continuously engaging the WIC Alumni community with opportunities of involvement in such things as a Mentorship Program, Guest Speaking to our current students and an exclusive Alumni Relations platform called WICConnect. Every WIC student who completes a minimum of one year at the College is considered an Alumni. As alumni you are also invited to attend special events and share in our yearly celebrations such as the WIC Annual Lawn Bowling Tournament, Homecoming and the Prestigious Alumni Awards.
