AMS was founded in 1984 by Daylene Lumis, whose vision was inspired by her Montessori teacher training, including instruction under Renilde Montessori, granddaughter of Dr. Maria Montessori. That authentic connection to Montessori philosophy continues to guide our school today. Over the years, AMS has steadily grown while remaining true to its founding principles. We expanded with the addition of Casa classrooms, welcomed the next generation of family leadership when Daylene's daughter Brita joined the school as an accredited Montessori teacher, and relocated to our scenic current location in Historic downtown Ancaster Village. Today, our facilities include Toddler and Casa classrooms, a large gymnasium, and an expansive natural playground. After 25 years of leadership, Brita continues to serve as the Owner and Head of the School. While the school has evolved over four decades, our mission remains unchanged: empowering children to become capable, compassionate, lifelong learners.
