Fieldstone School ADMISSIONS

Private schools in Canada have admissions policies, and they require application materials. These may include letters of application, application fees, essays, and tests (such as the SSAT). Many schools also require interviews with prospective students. Schools also use different criteria for evaluating student applications, have different acceptance rates, and target different kinds of students. To improve your child’s chances of acceptance, find out everything you can about a school’s admissions policies and how they assess applicants.

What type of student Fieldstone is looking for:

Fieldstone is a welcoming community where we look for students who are involved in the school community and have a constant drive for success, character development, and knowledge acquisition. To achieve success at our school, students need to participate in the life of our school with an open-minded and growth-oriented attitude. They need to be reflective and seek help when required. They need to be honest to their peers, teachers, and themselves. We firmly believe that every student is capable of success and overcoming challenges. By working with the faculty and being involved in the school, students receive an individualized education to become well-educated global citizens.

What people say about the Admissions

Supportive and personalized admissions process

Accounts from applicants and their families highlight that the school's admissions process is notably supportive and personalized, focusing on individual student needs and providing a welcoming and thorough introduction to the school environment.

Throughout my admissions process into Fieldstone I felt that they really cared about me as a person. During the admission process, I did go through testing however, it wasn’t a process of elimination to see who was the smartest but I felt like it was done to assess the level of the new students to best accommodate them into their new learning environment. To me this was everything because I came from a public school that didn’t have the resources or time to ensure that my level of learning was the same as everybody else. There was also an interview to see what I was interested in as a student, and the goals I had previously set for myself. Fieldstone, took my level of learning and allowed me to catch up and even get ahead!
—Lexie Dias, alum (2012-2018) (see full review)
When I did my admissions, I was eleven. My advice to someone that is applying is to not freak out because it is a very calm process. It is also good to maintain an open mind and show that you care deeply about your education and that you have passions outside of that. Remain courteous and respectful. My experience with applying for admission was very relaxed because the admissions officers worked with me a lot to find out if I was a good fit for the school. They gave me the opportunity to express myself and I was given a wonderful tour of the school. I will always remember how welcomed they made me feel and how they helped me to understand more about the school.
—Abigail Lewis, alum (2012-2018) (see full review)
Personally, I applied because of the appeal of the Cambridge program, and that is most definitely a selling point of the school. From my conversation with the admissions officer, I felt like the school was helpful in making sure I was going into an environment that was the right fit for me. I knew I could definitely count on support while applying, and I realized coming in how welcoming they were when they introduced me to the city during orientation, given that I was new to the country. They actively and thoroughly look into your previous academic records to ensure your viability for the level of rigor you are to encounter within the school. Their commitment to success was evident from the start, which made me realize that I was coming to the right place.
—Adham Ragab, alum (2018-2019) (see full review)

A diverse and inclusive community

Insider perspectives emphasize that the school's commitment to fostering an inclusive community with a significant international presence enriches the cultural fabric and provides meaningful support to students from diverse backgrounds.

I think a majority of the student population of the school are international students, and the school does actively look into bringing international students. From those I've talked to from other schools, that wasn't necessarily the case at their schools. But what opened my eyes was the fact that the school was so open to having people from different countries come in and help broaden the community in terms of the culture, in terms of the different viewpoints that are being offered. I think that was something that I think the school did well in terms of the fact that they were so willing to bring in all those new students who were just moving to Canada and helped them adapt to the country. I think that really helped those coming in. I think that's the same position that the school took with other students as well.
—Adham Ragab, alum (see full interview)

Leadership and administrative accessibility

Feedback from current parents and students describes the school's administration as highly approachable and responsive, contributing to a well-run and accessible educational environment.

The school is well run by the administrative leaders, who are very approachable, responsive and you will see them around all the time - so very accessible. Right from the one-day trial and the discussion with Ms. Butcher, we had confidence that we had made the right choice, and after a successful year, we can confirm that we feel so lucky we chose to come here! The leaders are very thoughtful, and considerate, and you can approach them about virtually anything - they are so kind and helpful.
