Kota Sakurai 2017 Kota was the first ever Japanese soccer player to join Toronto FC II. During his time at Fieldstone, he was a dedicated athlete, scholar, and student leader.

What Fieldstone School says about their alumni network:

  • I chose Fieldstone because it allowed me to have a closer relationship with my teachers, as its class sizes are very small. Fieldstone exceeded my expectations. Fieldstone really helped me to balance both academics and soccer and the Guidance department at Fieldstone really helped me to work on my university application. I received a 65% scholarship from Dartmouth College and look forward to beginning my studies there this September. (Kota Sakurai, June 2017)
  • The vast majority of our students have chosen to pursue their undergraduate studies in Ontario. Within this province, our students have been accepted to such competitive programs as Rotman Commerce and Engineering Science at the University of Toronto, Mathematics and Engineering at the University of Waterloo, and Commerce at Queen’s University. Our graduates have also pursued studies at universities in other provinces and countries including Harvard, College of William & Mary, Rhode Island School of Design, Dartmouth College, Parsons and Purdue. Fieldstone has graduated a total of 547 students.
  • Fieldstone students remain loyal to their alma mater, returning to assist with school events and to promote post-secondary opportunities. Members of the Fieldstone Alumni Association (FAA) act as mentors to our current students and foster school spirit the world over. We even have a U of T Fieldstone alumni chapter all its own.
  • In January 2017, Fieldstone alumni, Arkady Silverman returned to Fieldstone to make a presentation about our sister school G.S. Marita located in Cameroon, Africa.

What insiders say about the Notable Alumni

Alumni involvement fosters lifelong connections

Insights from alumni and parents reveal that Fieldstone School's strong focus on alumni involvement and nurturing relationships creates a lasting bond with the school community and contributes to a supportive network.

Alumni are good role models for the students. Alumni often are invited to come and be part of our special events that our students put on. The alumni have attended special events like the end-of-year barbecue, or they've come to the welcome barbecue and just talked about the school and their experiences. The alumni like to come back and visit, especially to see their teachers, which I love, and to see if there's any way they can help students that are there now with the decisions for the future.
—Leanne Martin, school leader (see full interview)
The three biggest reasons to choose Fieldstone School are first, a lot of alumni are involved. There's a lot of connections to be made. If someone's focusing on establishing that community spirit and wants that in the school, then that's the school for you. Secondly, I would say that the extracurricular programs offered are very interesting. There's a lot of cultural extracurriculars offered to the school as well. So if someone's interested in having a side to their education that will supplement their personality or supplement their character a little bit more, then the options on hand at Fieldstone are absolutely great. And thirdly, if anyone's looking for an extra academic challenge, the fact that the Cambridge program is offered at the school as well as other academic challenges is great, for example, the Waterloo chemistry contest or math contests.

The alumni community is amazing, I keep in touch with the administrators of Fieldstone, and they always invite me back to help out with events! It’s an amazing opportunity to see the next generation of students who come out of Fieldstone, and the work that they’ve also put in throughout their years. Since graduating, I’ve still continued to keep up with students at the school. I really believe that I’ve truly made life long friendships! The parents at Fieldstone are also great, and they even have their own faculty in the JK-8 section of the school! I found that through my elementary years at Fieldstone the parents contributed a lot to the events and even creating a close-knit circle of friends for their children.

Supportive and engaging academic environment

Testimonials from students and alumni highlight that Fieldstone School's supportive atmosphere, dedicated staff, and comprehensive extracurricular offerings provide a well-rounded and engaging educational experience.

I'd have to say Fieldstone School shaped who I am today massively because the school was my introduction to life in Canada. How I carried myself in the school translated into my personal life, how I carried myself living here, how I carried myself just being who I am, really. It was my last year of high school, and so the decisions I had to consider were ones that affected my life moving forward. So I'd have to say Fieldstone influenced who I am, my priorities in life, my focus on who I wanted to become and what I wanted to become, what I wanted to do, not just in academic pursuits, but in life pursuits as well. Because I had to focus on which universities I wanted to find and because I had to focus on how I wanted to carry myself in my last year in such a formative system, getting to experience that year at Fieldstone changed my outlook on a lot of things.
—Adham Ragab, alum (see full interview)
I loved my time at Fieldstone! I remember waking up every day and being excited to go to school. Fieldstone creates a very loving and supportive environment for their students! Especially because the size of the student body is smaller, and it allowed the administration and staff to get to know each and every student! This to me was amazing, and even now I still drop by every once and a while to say hello to everyone! At Fieldstone, I really felt that the teachers really cared about their students, and always gave room for students to request extensions on their work to ensure low stress levels! This allowed me to gain a sense of responsibility and even time management! I personally really enjoyed the time I spent at Fieldstone!
—Lexie Dias, alum (2012-2018) (see full review)
I loved going to school at Fieldstone, and I still visit to this day. As highlighted before, the staff definitely created an environment that promoted healthy learning and a positive atmosphere. I loved conversing with the teachers and other students and was definitely always looking forward to attending class. It was a more relaxed environment that I most definitely enjoyed, and something that encouraged me to work harder. I certainly miss the atmosphere of being able to joke around and converse with the teachers and students while also maintaining a respect-first relationship with everyone around me. I was definitely also able to maintain a great academic standing throughout due to my feeling of stability within the school.
