Lynn-Rose Heights was transformed into a Café Francais for two days this past week as students and parents celebrated French Culture. Our Lynn-Rose Heights families were invited to attend the event where students in grades 3-8 hosted and served snacks and beverages. Parents were then entertained by the students performing French songs as well playing a variety of instruments. There were also performances from the Recorder Club and Band as well as the Choir who did a fantastic rendition of Kendji Girac’s Andalouse. This annual event is a wonderful opportunity for families to experience firsthand the hard work and dedication of the students throughout the term. As an International Baccalaureate school, Lynn-Rose Heights, “is committed to supporting multilingualism as a fundamental part of increasing intercultural understanding and international-mindedness…” (www.ibo.org). Through our Café Francais students demonstrated their understanding of the French language through speaking, listening and research into the French speaking European countries of Switzerland, Belgium, Monaco and Luxemburg. Café Francais provides students the opportunity to make authentic connections with their French language studies and gives students a platform to demonstrate a variety of developing Approaches to Learning. Thank you to all the students and staff who worked hard to make this always memorable event a success!
