Highlights from the interview

  • For us, we really wanted a school that would focus on the whole child, and specifically the whole boy. We wanted a school that focused on younger children, encouraged them, and felt supportive and warm.

  • They have both thrived, but in totally different ways because they're totally different boys. That's one of the things I really love about Sterling. They really meet your son where he is, support his individual interests, and bring out the best in him, wherever he falls on the spectrum.

  • The communication we receive from both the teachers and the administration has been amazing. Beyond that, though, and I suppose it's all connected, is the community.

  • The Sterling community is second to none. Parents are encouraged and welcomed to attend as many school events as they can.

  • Walking through the hallways is always a friendly, welcoming experience. Everyone seems to know you and know your boys. It kind of feels like coming home after the summer. It's just such a great feeling.

  • All the families who are there want to be there. They're making an effort to be there, and I think that really shows in the strength of the community.

  • I would say the extracurricular program at Sterling is one of the school's biggest strengths. They honestly offer everything… Beyond the clubs, the sports program is amazing. The boys compete against other schools, there are tournaments, and it's a fantastic athletic experience.

  • It gives our boys the opportunity to try as many sports as they want without putting additional pressure on parents to schedule even more sports outside of school.

  • If your child is struggling a bit in class, they have an amazing academic support team that will help make sure your child is reaching grade level. That might include one-on-one support or in-class support. It looks different for different children.

  • They truly understand and specialize in K to Grade 8 boys' education. Their focus is entirely on boys at that age and stage. They're not distracted by an upper school or by university admissions. They're really focused on your child during those important foundational years.

  • My advice to families would be to look at where your child is right now and what they need today… Ask yourself what environment will be the most supportive and encouraging for them.

  • It's important to look at the whole picture and choose the school that makes the most sense for your family.
