350 Textbooks: one tiny machine

350 Textbooks - one tiny machine

Blyth Academy, a Toronto-based private school, will give each of its students a handheld computer instead of this year's textbooks.


The Sony Reader, a small tablet computer roughly the size of a Moleskine notebook, can hold all of the texts a student will need for their entire high school career plus any books they would like to read for pleasure. Coupled with the on-board organization and note-taking system the Reader can drop the backpack-weight of these studious teens.

Parents will notice a difference in their wallets, too. The Reader will save each student $700/year in textbook costs.
