CIHA White, along with CIHA Green faced off against OHA U17 and U18 in a six game tournament that would determine the winner of the 2017 Academy Division. Between March 9th-17th, all teams played each other twice with CIHA White coming out on top with 4 wins and 2 losses.
There was plenty of parity between the teams with two games needing extra time and several games decided by two goals or less. It took until the final game to determine who would be the Champion, making this very exciting playoff hockey from start to finish.
Led by Head Coach Andre Savage, CIHA White was paced by a balanced scoring attack and a very stingy defense, along with exceptional goaltending. Ethan Hunt and Julien Cholette combined for only 8 goals against and two shutouts, while stopping an incredible 95.3% of the shots they faced in 3 starts each.
It was a season of highs and lows for CIHA White, but they played their best hockey of the year at the right time which translated into a Division Title. Full credit to the entire team as they truly earned this status.
