Derek J. Allison was born in England and completed his teacher training there. He immigrated to Canada in 1969 and is currently a professor at the University of Western Ontario. He is also the co-author of the Fraser Institute report Ontario Private Schools: Who Chooses Them and Why.

Mary Polychronas has spent 20 years working with teachers and students in the private and public sectors, and is a staff psychologist at Weston School in Montreal. She has taught in both systems.

In terms of cost, private high school accounts for less time (so less total tuition) and may have a stronger effect on their future as an adult but it is usually more expensive on a yearly basis.
