- Parents are allowed - and encouraged - to have a strong say in the day-to-day activities of their children and of the school in private education. In many private schools, parents are closely involved in the school community through committees and other outlets. Private education allows parents to choose schools with a perspective they desire for their children.
- In many private schools, small class sizes are promoted as integral to facilitating learning and individualized instruction. (Montessori schools and preschools are an exception to this, but they in fact also encourage individual attention to each child, though in their case that individual attention may come from helpful peers or older children. They do not claim small class sizes.) In general, private schools' small class sizes allow teachers to maintain class order and discipline, making classwork and homework a priority.
