Since leaving, my appreciation for Hillfield Strathallan College has grown dramatically. What I've learned to value the most since graduating has been the sense of community at Hillfield Strathallan College. It’s a community that really fosters and encourages learning.

What differentiates Hillfield Strathallan College is the real sense of community within the school, and how they bring extensive efforts into connecting current students and alumni, and students from Kindergarten to Grade 12.

I stay connected with Hillfield Strathallan College alumni on LinkedIn or Facebook and see all the amazing things they are doing since graduating from the school. It is incredible, it is a motivated group of individuals.

Even after graduating from Hillfield Strathallan College, you can come back and be involved as alumni, whether you’re on the board, or just in a volunteering or visiting capacity. Once you enter the community, you never really leave.

I sit on the Hillfield Strathallan College board of alumni. Whether through board initiatives or outside initiatives, the Hillfield Strathallan College alumni are so excited to come back to the school. I remember being in early high school or middle school, and I would look up at the lunch hall and see alumni sitting with teachers who had just decided to come back for a meal and say hello. I remember sitting in many classes, and around the time of May, you would start to see alumni walking the halls, coming to speak in classes, and share about their experiences at university, et cetera. That speaks so much to the impact that the faculty have at Hillfield Strathallan College, that so many of the alumni want to come back to the school to reconnect with teachers and the student community after spending years away.

A lot of the school traditions are really being looked at as something to continue. The ones that really were embraced by the students, the staff, and the parents are being reinforced and introduced in various events, whether it's events or uniforms or different hostings internally. The Alumni Association, which I'm part of, is trying to keep fostering and promoting the young alumni to start taking those traditions and start carrying them forward.

What stands out to me about the broader community at Hillfield Strathallan College, is the similarities of the experiences as a student and as a member of the alumni community. No matter if you are a current student or an alumni ,Hillfield Strathallan College always feels like home. Every member is welcome to enjoy and celebrate what Hillfield Strathallan College is all about. Through events like Open houses, arts nights, musical performances, athletic games, Homecoming and charity events; Hillfield Strathallan College includes everyone. After my time at Hillfield Strathallan College I moved across the country to pursue my undergrad but that did not effect my relationships with my classmates, teachers, and school life. As an Alumni I was encouraged to stay connected and share in the changes of my life and the college life.

Hillfield Strathallan College offers many different and unique extracurricular opportunities for all students from ages 5 and up. One of the greatest joys as an alumnus is coming back to Hillfield Strathallan College to cheer on a sports team or enjoy an art or music exhibit. Almost every student is involved in an activity they truly enjoy and have interest in. This is all possible because of the amazing teaching and support staff at Hillfield Strathallan College. Teachers easily transition from the classroom to the field or stage. Hillfield Strathallan College offers both competitive and 'just for fun' extracurricular opportunities. Many of the leadership, teamwork and life lesson are learned during these extracurriculars helping to develop well-rounded students. I will cherish the memories of my extracurricular opportunities at Hillfield Strathallan College as they shaped who I am today.

Hillfield Strathallan College played a large part in my personal development. I was part of Hillfield Strathallan College for so many of our crucial development years, starting at such a young age. The Hillfield Strathallan College environment, the faculty, and the friends that I made played a really large role in my development and shaping the person I am.

I would say to a prospective student or family, get as involved as you can be because that really enhances the education piece of it. I stayed involved with the school because right after graduation, I was working at the college at the camps. They have a day camp there that did sports and different activities that were open to the college kids and outside kids as well. In terms of how it's changed, it's neat to see how things have progressed. Whether it's teaching, athletics, or arts, all that stuff together just molds that education piece.

Hillfield Strathallan College does a great job of bringing in alumni to speak about university experiences. You learn a lot about post-secondary from an academic and extracurricular point of view.

The university counselling program at Hillfield Strathallan College aided in every stage of my university placement. I was supported from when I began to educate myself on potential schools to when I full accepted my offer. Through guest speakers, information nights and one on one university prep I never doubted my chances of reaching my full potential. I do feel as if i was given the appropriate guidance in a timely fashion to apply successfully to my first-choice post-secondary programs. has an excellent record of students attending post-secondary institution. I was able throughout the application process to turn to not only my counsellor but teachers, alumni and experts in my field of study. I was able to confidently apply to the top schools in Canada knowing I had a support system at Hillfield Strathallan College.
