Qualitative insights

These insights are based on conversations with parents, alumni, and school leadership. Handpicked and curated by our editor, they offer a close look at how the school is experienced and perceived by those who know it best.

There's a broad range of extracurricular opportunities and unique experiences.

Observations from parents, students, and alumni indicate that Fieldstone School offers a diverse set of extracurricular activities and unique experiences, allowing students to explore various interests and potential career paths.

There's always something that you could try out at Fieldstone School. They did really have that opportunity for everyone to really explore what they wanted and what they felt like would lead them in their future.
You can really see that graduates of Fieldstone understand who they are as human beings and who they want to be and what they want to do in the future. I think that not a lot of schools provide people with the opportunity to really discover who they are and what they want to do. Not even just figuratively or metaphorically, but literally, the school has a lot of opportunities where people can go out and do different things that they might not have thought of doing, and it can definitely open your eyes in different ways.
What surprised us most about the school was the different recognitions that you could achieve at the school. Our son was able to definitely gain confidence by winning a lot of awards. So we were happy to see that. Fieldstone has supported our son through the Duke of Edinburgh program as well, and that's been great. Our son has won several awards through Grades 11 and 12.

The community is inclusive and diverse.

Observations from insiders suggest that Fieldstone School fosters an inclusive and diverse environment where students from various backgrounds and with various interests feel welcomed and appreciated, encouraging personal growth and self-discovery.

I think Fieldstone School is very open to different people, not only just in terms of race, but in terms of who they are as human beings. Whatever you are, whether you're interested in music or you're interested in sports or engineering like I was, there's always an avenue to explore.
Fieldstone represented my first exposure to Canadian Society. It was during orientation that I got to experience part of the school life and got introduced to the beautiful city of Toronto. Fieldstone also introduced me to some great people I am still in contact with, and from the get-go, you could feel the positive atmosphere that the faculty want to foster. The teachers are extremely helpful and their desire to help you shows. You were made to feel welcome, and at home. The Duke of Edinburgh's Award program that the school runs is something that is intriguing and definitely worth exploring, as it can introduce you to new skills and get you to meet new people. The Cambridge program provided an extra degree of challenge that you wouldn't always get and is definitely something that can be beneficial to current and prospective students. Overall, while I only spent a year there, it was definitely a year that was crucial to shaping who I am as a human being.
With any school, it is always a mixed bag of students, but at Fieldstone, everyone is respectful and usually eager to learn. Thankfully, Fieldstone has a wide range of extracurricular activities, so there is always the opportunity to meet others in different grades and find a place where you belong. The school was free from catty or bullying behavior and the school encouraged a positive environment. Since most of the class sizes were quite small, it gave everyone the opportunity to get to know others. In Fieldstone King's College School, most of the students were from countries such as China, Japan, South Korea, and Mexico, so it was wonderful to get to learn about other cultures and Fieldstone encouraged that by having a Cultural Afternoon where everyone would bring dishes from their country and it would be shared amongst everyone.

There's lots of engagement with the local community.

Accounts from students and administrators emphasize that Fieldstone School encourages student engagement with the local community through various initiatives and programs, enhancing both educational and social experiences.

The location of the school was great, throughout my high school years I was able to venture beyond the school to help my community! For example, through the community outreach club, I was able to organize school-wide community clean-ups. During this time, we would get into groups and venture around the community to pick up litter and properly dispose of it!

There are lots of leadership opportunities.

Insights from parents highlight that Fieldstone School's approach to fostering leadership among its students, through roles such as House captains and the provision of various leadership clubs, contributes significantly to personal growth and community spirit.

The staff at Fieldstone creates a bond with their students and ensures that respect is a two-way street! Through the mutual respect between administration, teachers, staff, and students Fieldstone creates a very positive environment for their students to grow! Students at Fieldstone also take pride in their leadership opportunities. For example, when I was a student I took part in becoming a prefect. This allowed me to become a school leader in organizing events around the school such as dress-down days, and prom.
Leadership is AMAZING! My daughter Sofia was Captain of the Peterson House for 3 years in a row, at first she was not sure about the role, but the school always supported her to develop her strengths as a leader, they have a very good strategy of having a vice-captain which is great for students to learn how to work in community and project planning as a Team. One learns from the other. Her House won the Annual CUP for 2 years in a row, and that shows how much the school supports leadership and growth. The administrative team is always reachable, they are always open to parents' points of view and suggestions. We have very healthy communication with the school at all times.
Fieldstone is a Cambridge school that has been preparing my daughters for high academic achievements. My children have developed a passion for learning in a positive school culture. They are encouraged to participate in public speaking contests, school plays, leadership roles and are given the tools to succeed in all of their endeavours. My daughters are developing into young female leaders with a great sense of worth and confidence. Fieldstone has developed the need for my children to be curious, to search deeper into themselves to achieve the best possible results. They have been encouraged to constantly review their work and to discuss their work with teachers. They have access to one-on-one tutorials if they choose to deepen their understanding. Teachers are always available for their students and that is key to their success.
