How we rank schools

Details on criteria used

In creating Our Kids' private school rankings, we use only data supplied by schools themselves when they register (annually) with Our Kids. does not list all private schools in Canada, and the platform is not restricted to schools in Canada only. Schools pay to register with
Member schools grant us considerably detailed information about every aspect of their school, including the information noted below.
Here is a guide to how data is compiled in our ranking tables:
The most expensive schools. Example: Most expensive schools in BC
These tables pull the minimum and maximum of annual day tuition, as reported by schools. You'll find this information under Tuition & Financial Aid in school profiles.

Private schools with the most notable alumni. See: Most notable alumni
We sum up the total of submitted alumni (submitted by the schools) that provided a reference to a Wikipedia page. You'll find this in school profiles under Notable Alumni. Not that not all schools qualify, so you may not see this listed in some school profiles.

Ranking by lowest admissions rate. Example: Schools with the lowest admissions rate
These page and modules offer rankings based on schools' self-reported percentage of overall acceptance. You'll find this data in school profiles under the Admission tab, then Acceptance.

Oldest or newest private schools. Example: Oldest schools
These pages and modules sort the founding date, as submitted by schools. You'll find this information in school profiles under 'About this school'.
