What Is TABS?
The Association of Boarding Schools (TABS) is a voluntary membership organization for nearly 300 boarding schools in the United States, Canada, and abroad. The independently incorporated non-profit organization exclusively serves the marketing and professional development needs of college-preparatory boarding schools, and provides information for families and other individuals about the benefits of living and learning in a residential setting. The association provides these services through an annual conference, a series of workshops for school administrators and staff members, admission trips, the publication of an annual directory, and a comprehensive website—www.tabs.org. The association recently commissioned a comparative study to determine the value-added of the boarding school experience, the results from which are incorporated in the marketing initiative Telling the Truth About Boarding School.
Mission Statement
The Association of Boarding Schools leads a national and international effort to promote awareness and understanding of boarding schools, expand the applicant pool for our membership, and offer support and direction for residential life programs. Our goals are to provide information about member schools to the general public, and to engender favorable publicity for the boarding option. We seek to support our schools in marketing, recruitment and enrollment management endeavors and identify the value-added of teaching and learning in a residential setting.
