Prior to Devenish Educational Consulting, my son was struggling to keep up with his academic work. He wasn't sure how to organize and prioritize his work, which made him feel very overwhelmed. Now, he looks forward to meeting with Kelly every week to review assignments and tests, as well as develop strategies for improvement. She connected with him easily and is helping him approach learning in a manner that works for him. Her extensive teaching experience and knowledge regarding ADHD have been invaluable.
Initially, we chose Devenish Educational Consulting when our son's Psychologist told us about the positive feedback he'd heard about Kelly's services. Parents of clients he interacted with had described Devenish Educational Consulting as a "game changer". We are finding the same and are so grateful to have Kelly's help in improving our son's academic experience in high school.
Kelly was previously a teacher and is also extremely knowledgeable regarding ADHD and the challenges it presents when learning. When we started the program, she got to know my son and was then able to tailor learning strategies that worked specifically for him. Her communication with us as parents is also excellent. She sends an update after each session, which allows us to remain informed and involved in the educational process. In turn, we let her know of his ongoing successes and challenges at school, which enables us to work as a team and ensure optimal support for my son.
Devenish Educational Consulting provides 1:1 learning support for my son. We have not experienced any group sessions run by Kelly, so we cannot comment on this. However, we do find that Kelly herself is very open and engaging. My son is very comfortable speaking with her honestly and looks forward to the sessions each week. As parents, we would not hesitate to reach out to Kelly if concerns arose.
My son continues to learn a variety of educational and life skills at Devenish Educational Consulting. Given his diagnosis of ADHD and academic struggles, Kelly has coached him in the following areas: Organization, prioritization, self-advocacy, task initiation, goal setting, writing skills, critical thinking, flexible thinking, time management, exam preparation, assignment planning, and study habits. Kelly also helps my son apply new skills to specific school assignments. This allows him to learn these strategies in a more practical format.
What stood out for us about Devenish Educational Consulting is the fact that Kelly brings the perfect combination of knowledge and skill to the table, but also meets the child "where they're at". She gets to know her client and is able to tailor services to the individual needs. She is always positive and celebrates small successes, which helps to build self-esteem in children who are struggling to learn.
I wouldn't hesitate to enroll my child in sessions with Kelly at Devenish Educational Consulting. She provides learning and life strategies as well as positive support for each client. As a parent, I am kept well informed of each session, and I don't hesitate to share information or ask questions when needed. Kelly is very responsive either by email or at the start of a session. In addition, we find the fee very reasonable for the services and impact. We only wish we had started sooner!
