About this course

Most writing courses focus on the mechanics of writing. Usually we learn all about parts of speech, punctuation and spelling. But have you ever thought about how to make your writing more interesting for your reader? Have you ever thought about how to make your writing more interesting  and fun for you the writer? That’s the purpose of Focus Learning’s Academic Writing. In this course we’ll bring our attention to the creative aspect of the writing process and not just learn how to write but how to make your writing a reflection of your inner self. Writing doesn’t have to be a chore. Learn how to make it into an art form.  Nobody loves JK Rowling because she remembers to put periods at the end of her sentences. We love her because she knows how to tell a good story and paint an amazing picture with words. That’s what you’ll learn in Focus Learning’s Academic Writing.

Materials & Homework

This course is designed for people who want to develop another side of their writing outside of mechanics. You don’t need any special skills to join this class but you do need to want to be a better, more creative writer. There will be weekly homework assignments that vary in length from simple outlines to long form stories. Brace yourself! This class is a ride!
