Be immersed in the music industry! Gain real-life experience in one of four programs – Vocal Track, Orchestra Track, Tech Track, and Rock Band Track. Campers come together to explore creativity, musical skills, and have fun over 5 awesome days of camp!
The Musical Futures Summer Camp provides an innovative, immersive experience that exposes youth to all aspects of music creation and performance in a collaborative, safe way, fostering personal growth and creativity. Targeting youth ages 6–14, the curriculum has been developed and delivered by talented musicians who are also skilled educators, creating a one-of-a-kind quality and empowering camp experience.
The Hamilton Music Collective cares about the safety of its students and staff. In response to Covid 19 the following protocols have been developed using public health guidelines from the province and from the city of Hamilton. Students, Staff, Guests (personal responsibility): - Completion of the Ontario school self-assessment before attending classes. We ask that students only come to The Gasworks if they are feeling well and have passed this screening. https://covid-19.ontario.ca/school-screening/ - As per the city of Hamilton by-law, wearing a mask is mandatory for everyone entering the building and must be always worn while inside. This includes vocalists during classes. - We ask that visitors please use the provided hand sanitizing and handwashing stations provided when exiting and entering the building and when needed throughout. All common surfaces will be sanitized thoroughly before and after rehearsals. - All our in-person instructors are required to be fully vaccinated. Out of an abundance of caution, if any member of a class receives a positive covid test result, class will be cancelled until all students and instructors receive a negative covid test result. Music makes a difference! It brings people together, creates friendships, helps build communities, as well as investing young people with confidence, drive, and passion - enriching life itself.
This past year, the Hamilton Music Collective (HMC) has made the maintenance of these values its utmost priority. An investment was made in a new registration system, thus increasing our ability to reach our ever-growing AIFEC community and to stay connected with our students.
An exciting new partnership was established with the City of Hamilton’s Recreation Department, which allows us to reach even more children and youth in our community in order to provide them with creative opportunities.
Thanks to the incredible effort of our team of instructors and HMC/ AIFEC staff, close to 300 elementary students are currently enrolled in our free weekly instrumental lessons.
In a time where so many children are experiencing a prolonged state of physical isolation from their peers, teachers, and community networks, the impact of music provides an outlet to relieve stress and anxiety, plus serves as a source of substantial joy and empowerment.
This past September, HMC moved back into our newly expanded and renovated home, The Gasworks, which will become a true cultural hub – a centralized location that will make education, exploration, and entertainment accessible for its inner- city neighbours and anyone else who wishes to participate. None of what HMC does would be possible, were it not for the incredible financial support received from our broad base of donors and benefactors, to whom we are most grateful and appreciative.

President and CEO
Quote from January 2022:
"My daughter and our family have really enjoyed her weekly lessons with Garrett. I just wanted to send a separate note to highlight him, she LOVES working with him, he is so great with her, patient and silly too. It’s just wonderful for us sitting in the background listening to them. Great Job to Garrett and we hope we get to continue working with him. Thank you to the entire team for all you are doing.” - Brittany, AIFEC Parent
