This program is designed to build the following character traits:

  • Creativity: Participants engage with a multiplicity of media and learn that creativity is deeply connected to using materials in innovative ways, and finding inspiration in unexpected places, by looking outward rather than inward.
  • Curiosity: Participants are introduced to the idea that architecture is about more than just buildings. It provokes curiosity into all scales of the built environment, from the intimacy of a private room to the social complexities of the city.

LAB 101 – July 29-August 2 (online)
Emphasis on the human scale, multi-media drawing techniques, architectural conventions, and some physical modeling

This week-long workshop will include thought-provoking lectures and hands-on design thinking and making activities. You will be immersed in a culture of creativity, inspired motivation, and related skills-building techniques, methods, and projects. Each day will be dedicated to a specific theme that will culminate in a final exhibition of your projects. There will also be an opportunity to learn about Carleton University’s application process and a workshop in portfolio preparation
