Great Big Theatre Company offers acting classes for kids ages 6 up to 13 throughout the Fall, Winter and Spring. It's a great way for kids to develop confidence and self-presentation skills, as well as to keep their creative juices flowing after school and on weekends.
GBTC offers classes at 24 locations across the GTA and southwest Ontario. Classes focus on voice, movement, clear speech and expression, storytelling, working with scripts, and developing character roles, as well as singing and movement choreography The goal is encouraging kids to use voice, body and movement expressively, creatively, imaginatively and with confidence.
There are programs for 9-to-13-year-olds and 6-to-8-year-olds, as well as a special program for 3-to-5-year-olds which incorporates music and visual arts as well as drama and storytelling. Registration is risk-free: your kids can try the first class and GBTC will refund all registration fees (less administrative fee) if for any reason they do not wish to continue.
Drama benefits kids through building cooperation and social skills, as well as literacy and empathy.
