SummerArts for kids ages 12 - 16

Ross Creek Centre for the Arts  []

At Ross Creek we provide an amazing art day taught by professional artists and a great camp experience for kids on our 178 acres of field and forest, led by our fabulous counsellors. Whether exploring the world of making, or make-believe, drumming or dancing, making movies, or making monsters on paper,  our camps have something for every kid! Kids get outside each day, and explore our gorgeous landscape as part of their program.

Our Senior campers start to explore art forms in more depth, learning from our professional artists and gaining new skills while still focussed on the creative exploration of the world, through the arts.
July 2-5 (four day camp)
Urban Art Studio
Dive into the world of street art and create your own graffiti-influenced art. Inspired by internationally recognized artists such as Banksy, Keith Haring, and others, campers will learn about graffiti culture and the significance of public art. Campers will design their own stencils and create their positive graffiti! End of week gallery.

Singer/Songwriter Studio
Do you have a love of making music and want to develop your talents, even if you don’t play or sing? This is a great camp to get your words and melodies out there. Explore melody, harmony,      arranging, and lyric writing in a supportive and creative atmosphere. End of week showcase.

July 7-12

Actor’s Studio
Explore the art of acting, and meet friends to share the stage! Discover acting games that will help you grow as a performer. Sessions are high energy, and campers will develop a range of acting skills. An ensemble approach and a supportive environment ensure everyone has the opportunity to excel, and be ready for an end-of-week performance!

Visual Arts Studio: Sculpture
Working with a variety of new and recycled materials campers will have the opportunity to create one of a kind 3 dimensional works of art. Focusing on both the figure and abstract forms campers will learn basic sculpting skills and will even have the chance to visit a local monument. End of week gallery.

July 14-19
Animation Studio
Try your hand at various styles and techniques of animation. Campers will work in small groups to create their own micro-sets and characters and bring them to life through the magic of film. End of week Film Fest.

Writer’s Studio
At Ross Creek, we’ve created an amazing program to inspire and guide you to tell your own stories. Whether you love writing poetry or prose, or hope to try writing for the first time, join us this summer as we laugh, discuss and write, discovering what it means to be a writer… and what it means to create. End of week showcase.

July 21-26
Movie Studio
This camp is perfect for film lovers who want to tell their stories through movies! Campers will work on a live-action film, with a focus on both pre- and post-film production. Participants will be given the opportunity to write, act, direct, and edit under the guidance of a professional filmmaker. End of week Film Fest!

Graphic Novel Studio
Take your story idea to the next level in this hands-on workshop. Draw inspiration from your favourite graphic novel artists and learn the basics of illustration and storyboarding to create your own graphic novel. Work will be shared in an end of week Ross Creek Comic-Con!
