This year, we are pleased to reintroduce our popular in-person SLI camp to students from Grades 1 – 6. There will be a limited number of online spots available for hybrid learning, however, students registered for the in-person camp have the flexibility to switch to online synchronous learning. Campers will have an opportunity for an enriched learning experience in core curriculum subjects, integrated with instruction in relevant STEM topics that are selected each year by our experienced curriculum development team. Campers will learn how they can use English, French, Math, and Research skills to bridge creative writing and profit, to build and present an informed opinion, to budget and invest wisely, as well as to extend their knowledge to learn the ABCs of widely used programming tools that have become essential in every industry. For the morning sessions, both in-person and online campers in our Grades 1 – 6 will not only get to progress in their curriculum subjects (English, French, and Math) for an advantage before the next academic year, but they will also amaze themselves with how much fun they can have exploring advanced STEM subjects that are broken down to engage their grade level. Running for four 2-week themed sessions, from July 4th to August 26th (9:00 am to 12:00 pm), the SLI Summer Camp offers a morning session of academic instruction in curriculum Math, English, and French, as well as an introduction to Short Story Publishing, Debate based on Current Events Research, Financial Literacy (Personal Budgeting, Entrepreneurship, and Investments) and Computer Science (Data Analysis using Python Programming and template-based Website Development). Every two weeks, continuing participants will get to build on their published story collection, entrepreneurial ventures, and financial portfolios started in earlier weeks, while preparing to take a position to debate a current events topic for every session. The afternoon session this year offers on-site campers a unique experience through themed workshops and activities in learning about Art and Architecture, Animals and Archeology, Ancient Civilizations and Astronomy, and Magic and Mystery. Campers research and investigate themed topics, get innovative and creative in expressing what they have learned, work in teams for themed projects, and build their confidence in public speaking and presentation of their work. Campers engage in both team sports and physical activities as well as enjoy the social interaction and the natural environment as they hike with friends.
