(5) Overall experience

It gave me the opportunity to study in English and improve it, and it also allowed me to meet people from all around the world. I made lifelong friends through the summer camp at Stanstead. One thing I really enjoyed was going camping and doing a bunch of activities. I sometimes faced challenges that I wouldn’t normally experience, and I learned to solve them together with my campmates. In class, I felt very connected with my teacher. He was studying education in college and wasn’t officially a teacher yet, so the age gap wasn’t big, unlike my teachers at school. I think that’s why I felt so comfortable with him.

(5) Unique value

I think what makes this summer camp feel unique is that you only go to school in the morning and afternoon. I got to do some activities with campers who are in my class, and also with campers who aren't in my class. So even outside of the classroom, it allows me to meet new people. At summer camp at Stanstead, there are so many people from all around the world, so you won't feel isolated. You are going to find someone who makes you feel included.

(5) Program quality and activities

The activity that I really enjoyed the most was camping. There were adults who were supervising us, but from buliding camp, we needed to do everything by ourselves. We had to solve a bunch of problems, so that was a good experience to help me grow. At camp, I tried rafting for the first time. That was really fun as well.

(5) Social dynamics and experience

It has been almost two years, but I'm still staying touch with them which is incredible for me. We only had spent one month together, but we became lifelong friends. I got to make friends from all around the world and I could express my culture to them and I also heard how their culture look like, so that made me expand my views

(5) Skills and growth

Participating in the camp helped me grow both personally and socially. I learned how to communicate in English more comfortable, and I became more open-minded by meeting people from different countries. Going camping also taught me problem-solving and teamwork, because sometimes we faced challenges outdoors and had to fix them together. I think the most valuable skills I still use today are communication, responsibility, and cooperation. These experiences made me more independent and comfortable working with others.

(5) Reflections and advice

Knowing what I know now, my advice for future participants is to be open-minded and not be afraid to talk to new people. The camp is a rare chance to meet friends from different countries, so make the most of it. If I could relive my experience, I would do the same activities but push myself to join even more group events. One lesson I’d want to pass on is that stepping out of your comfort zone helps you grow. You don’t have to be perfect—just try your best, communicate, and enjoy the experience.

"It's very good for elite hockey players looking for summer exposure to new development."

The camp atmosphere is brilliant, the dorm-style overnight stay throughout the week is a lot of fun, and the activities put on at night after hockey are always good. I developed my hockey skills, but ... Read full review

I have attended Stanstead's language adventure camp only once, but the schedule was well structured and efficient. Counselors and instructors were cheerful, kind, and mature. I entered this camp with... Read full review
