My Granddaughter has been taken UBC computers clases including Saturday workshops for five years. She loves her instructors and the amazing projects like building her own game and coding. Returning Participant

My kids absolutely love Geering Up. They have been attending courses for four years now I think and if they haven’t been to a class in a few months they start asking “When’s the next Geering Up dad?” They’ve learned coding, done makers classes, done in person summer camps, at home online courses and every single one has been the highest quality, in every sense, and my kids are always excited to show and tell about what they have learned or created that day. I would highly recommend these classes to anyone with kids in the Vancouver area. 5 stars ... Show More

STEM Camps

My son attended the STEM & STEAM camps this summer. He had so much fun that he didn’t realize he was learning. The programs were very well-organized, and the teachers were enthusiastic! I’d definitely recommend this program.

OUR KIDS review of UBC Geering Up

our take

These highly respected STEM learning experiences for youth blend hands-on experimentation with the curiosity-driven spirit of university research. Held at the University of British Columbia’s Faculty of Applied Science, camps introduce students to engineering and science in engaging, age-appropriate programs that build both technical skills and creative thinking. Maker Camps are a highlight, in which elementary-aged students spend the week designing, building, and testing projects. Kids engage in playful experimentation, getting a feel for the way engineers approach problem-solving as they work with tools, materials, and prototypes. Miniminds Camps are targeted at kids just entering elementary school. It’s an early step into STEM learning with fun added into the mix, while they gain classroom and social skills. STEAM Creators broadens the experience by integrating art and design. Parents praise camps’ engaging, enthusiastic instructors and marvel at how kids have so much fun and get excited about learning.
