Arrowhead Camp offers 2, 4-week Leaders In Training (LIT) program for 16 year old campers. The program consists of intensive leadership training, and ‘on the job’ experience in activity areas and with cabin counsellors. LIT’s participate in all aspects of camp life and learn what it takes to be a successful and positive leader in the camp environment. The LIT program prepares the participants to take leadership roles in and out of camp. Many of the successful participants apply to work at camp in the following year.
The Leaders In Training are carefully selected. More information about this program is available by contacting the camp.
Dates for the LIT program are set for this upcoming summer. During their time with us, our LIT’s receive extensive leadership training, and “on the job” training in all of our activity areas and camper cabins. Participating in team-building activities, a canoe trip or hike in Algonquin Park, LIT’s spend 4 consecutive weeks learning what it means to be a leader at camp and in their community.
Candidates for the program must be 16 by the end of 2024 and be available for the entire duration of the program (FOUR WEEKS).
Here are the steps for those that are interested:
For the LIT applicant: Complete a cover letter that outlines why you want to be a LIT. Also include a resume that outlines any work and volunteer experience you’ve had, hobbies, achievements, sports teams, qualifications etc. These two documents must by submitted by email to both pAt ([email protected]) and Becca ([email protected]) by November 15th 2025. You will be notified by November 21st, 2025 if your application has been accepted. If accepted, your guardians can register you for the program online after October 31st.
For the parents: If your camper was accepted into the LIT program, please complete the camper application form and provide payment for the deposit or payment plan through the online Arrowhead Camp registration portal.
We are limited to the number of LIT’s that we can have during either month. We base our decisions on a number of criteria, including and not limited to; effort on the participant’s part in completing their paperwork, internal camp experience and levels, and past performance of camper while they were at camp amongst others.
We look forward to receiving your camper’s resume and cover letter and are always here if you have questions about the program or application process.
Please give careful consideration to this opportunity. We encourage all interested campers to apply, even if you are relatively new to Arrowhead camp. Our LIT’s have told us every year that it was “the summer of their lives!”
