This camp is designed to build the following character traits:

  • Resilience: Studies show that while at camp, childhood cancer patients have high levels of resilience, hope, perceived social support, and mental well-being, compared with generally healthy children.
  • Courage: A camper who hasn’t been able to swim because they require a medical port can have a nurse “waterproof” it so they can jump in the lake. A camper who uses a wheelchair can build new skills on the accessible ropes course.

Our overnight camp programs are offered year-round. Campers are supported and cared for 1:1 by volunteer cabin and activity counsellors, and have access to an on-site paediatric medical facility, staffed by a team of volunteer medical professionals to serve the up to 40 percent of campers on active treatment. Campers can explore nature, and take part in a full roster of accessible sports and recreation programs such as archery, swimming, canoeing, kayaking, paddle boarding, high ropes course, music, games, campfires and more. There are weekends at camp (WACs) in the fall, winter, and spring, which give kids and families the chance to try camp for the first time, make up for missed summer sessions, or stay connected throughout the year. During the summer sessions, kids at any point in their cancer journey can attend camp for one to two-week sessions. We offer special camp weeks for siblings, bereaved siblings, and the whole family. There’s also Leader-in-Training programming for adolescents and young adults.
