The Canadian Adventure Camp has a focus on gymnastics, including some very skill-based and frankly difficult activities, such as silks, which was added fairly recently. “We’ve also added hoops, these are all kind of like cirque, or circus elements,” says Justin Gerson, admitting that “it’s quite a difficult sport.” Still, even though a majority of campers don’t attend for the gymnastics program, they all try it, as they do the full range of activities, many of which—such as the gyro—are provided precisely because they are atypical. Campers are encouraged to get out of their comfort zones, to some extent, in order to grow into a better understanding of their strengths, talents, and capabilities. There is an attention to skill development, though character development is a goal of the program as well. Set on a private island in Temagami, with the full range of camp traditions, there’s certainly a lot to love. Staffing is sport specific, with experienced coaches in all of the activity areas. Leadership of the camp has also been consistent, with Skip Connett at the helm since he founded the Canadian Adventure Camp in 1975.

Vincent (Parent) — An excellent level of gymnastics and trampoline
Great first experience from both our sons who loved it... and want to come back. The level of Gymnastic/trampoline program and installation were great. Amazing attention to detail from all the staff and management.
Karen (Parent) — The best experience he ever had
I cannot say enough about this camp! My son said it was one of the best experiences he has ever had. He returned home with a confidence, energy, and excitement that I have not seen in a long time. The only drawback was tha... Read More

Julien was so happy with his 2 weeks at CAC that we are sending him back but this time 4 weeks next July. Julien really improved his English while meeting great people coming from all over the world and doing a lot of spor... Read More
Elise (Parent) — CAC made her independent and self confident
As much as I consider my daughter independent and self confident, part of this is probably a contribution to her many years at CAC. The camp allows her to totally be herself without judgement or needing to keep up with the... Read More

Justin Gerson, GREAT LEADERSHIP TEAM
Our goal every summer is to help young people grow into responsible, well- rounded citizens by expanding their skills and knowledge within the fun and friendship of a warm camp atmosphere. At the end of their camp experience, we want campers to leave not only with fond memories and firm friendships, but also a variety of valuable life skills to lay the groundwork for their future.
By providing a strong character-building atmosphere where campers develop the capacity to set and work towards personal goals, we help them to gain an increased sense of confidence, a ‘can-do’ attitude, improved social skills and the ability to live successfully with others.
Camp Director
Justin Gerson B.B.A. is a long time member of Canadian Adventure Camp. His background in gymnastics originally brought him to C.A.C as a camper and then as a coach. After several years as Head Gymnastics Coach at Canadian Adventure Camp, Justin began working fulltime for camp in 2005 and was appointed Camp Director in 2008. He leads by example and fosters mutual respect which results in a motivated and engaged staff team. His love for working with children drew him to camping as a career, and the children remain his first priority. He is committed to building a positive relationship with each camper.
Sports Program Director
George Andrews has been a part of our community since 2015 where he began his CAC journey as the counsellor of Adventure Land. After 3 years in Adventure land, George moved into a Leadership position in 2019. He has a BSc in Sport and Exercise Science and a background in social care and social work settings.
George's biggest asset is his drive and ambition. His mission is to bring about positive change and smiles to the faces of children. He believes wholeheartedly in the value of camp and is intent on empowering others to maximise their potential.
STAFF
At Canadian Adventure Camp, we know there is nothing more important than the health and safety of our campers, and this is always our number one priority. With this in mind, CAC staff are carefully hand-picked by our Directors, and provided with superior training to ensure they are well equipped for the job and ready for the role of a lifetime!
We pride ourselves in the high quality of our staff and the fact that many return year after year, from countries all around the globe! A good number of our staff have been campers themselves, and completed our esteemed Leader in Training program before joining the Staff Team.
