Parent (parent)Camp Processes Your communication is the best I have seen at any camp. Also your check-in process is outstanding! |
Parent- 2022 (parent)Loved Everything They loved it! Particularly my daughter who attended the LIT Program. She was there for 2 weeks and wants to stay for the whole summer next year. That speaks volumes. |
Lindsay T. (parent)Definitely Returning Next Summer My kids had a blast. I heard nothing but wonderful things the entire way home. The counsellors were amazing, fun and caring. The food is apparently amazing...they went on and on about that. Well done by all. I can't say enough and hopeful to recruit more of their friends next summer. |
2022 Camper (camper)HOC is Awesome! This was one of the best weeks of my life. I loved how the counsellors were willing to teach me more and help me get better at what I was doing. And the other campers were awesome. |
Parent (parent)LOVE IT! My kids LOVE Hockey Opportunity Camp... and one doesn't play hockey! |
Parent (parent)Very Positive Everything, they teach you about being punctual, manners in the dinning lounge, the activities and most of all, have fun, meeting new friends and oh ya trying to be a better hockey player. Most of all, teaching you to become an adult, but still being a kid. |
Camper 2019 (camper)Best Experience of My Life Going to this camp was one of the best experiences of my life so thank you for taking great care of us and giving us a great time. |
Camper 2023 (camper)Engaging Instructor The archery instructor was very positive and patient with me and taught me a lot about archery. The outdoor survival instructor was also amazing and taught me so much about the wilderness and was patient and understanding when I was learning how to navigate with a compass. |
Parent (parent)Great Camp for New Campers I continue to promote HOC as a great place to send your kids- especially those who have never been away before. We've had two kids in our group now who went to camp for the first time as teens and they both loved it. The check-in process for new parents is always excellent and the follow up email to new parents... Show More |
Parent- 2022 (parent)Check-In Process This was our first year at HOC and we were blown away by the process on arrival. It's reassuring to know that you are leaving your child in such good hands with solid processes and policies in place. |

Fun, adventure, and team spirit are all on the docket at Hockey Opportunity Camp (HOC). Kids can expect good times and sweaty heads, paired with waterskiing, archery, mountain biking, and, of course, hockey. You don’t have to love hockey to attend—the camp has other programs that don’t include ice time. But for those where hockey is life, HOC offers an elite on-ice summer skills training program combined with the traditional camp experience. Kids don’t have to sacrifice summer camp while keeping their hockey legs, and the escape from the city into the scenic Almaguin Highlands can be magical. Friends can bunk together, no matter what program they’re in, but there are ample opportunities to make new friendships. This big camp has a small camp feel with staff who are trained and invested in making camp a positive experience for all. HOC has a long and storied history starting in 1966, with its start as a sports camp that lower-income parents could afford. The current owners, the McLaughlin family (Kevin McLaughlin was a former camper and counsellor at HOC), strive to keep to the roots of the camp and create camp opportunities for as many kids as possible. They do this by keeping the rates below most other overnight summer sport camps. Kids will not forget their time at HOC, both the skills they learn and the memories they make.
