Since 1947, Camp Kandalore has delivered an unforgettable Canadian overnight camp experience for youth ages 6 to 16. Nestled in Ontario's beautiful Algonquin Highlands, Kandalore brings together the fun of classic camp with the adventure of wilderness canoe tripping. Campers enjoy up to 30 activities, from arts and athletics to outdoor skills and leadership development, sparking curiosity and building confidence along the way. Our renowned tripping program grows with each camper, from a one-night trip for beginners to a 12-day whitewater expedition for seniors. More than just a camp, Kandalore is a welcoming community where authenticity and personal growth thrive, friendships flourish, nature inspires, and every camper feels at home.

What sets Kandalore apart is balance. Many camps lean toward either in-camp programming or canoe tripping. We give both equal weight. Campers enjoy up to 30 in-camp activities alongside a progressive tripping program rooted in nearly 80 years of wilderness experience. Each summer builds on the last, so skills, responsibility, and confidence grow each year, all the way to a 12-day whitewater expedition. Our community is guided by three values: authenticity, inclusivity, and challenge. Kids are encouraged to be themselves, welcome others, and try things they didn't think they could. Many campers return summer after summer, and many go on to join our staff. At Kandalore, kids unplug, connect with nature, and discover what they are capable of.

Registration Details
Registration is open for Summer 2027 and our Summer & Winter Family Camps on October 15th at 12PM EDT. Applications for all Leadership programs are also available on our website.
Registering is simple: use our online portal. Returning families can log in using their existing account, while new families can create one with the “New User Sign-Up” option.
We’re here to help, our team is responsive and ready to answer questions at any stage. Leadership programs may have additional requirements, which are clearly outlined on our site. Families can access all details easily online, ensuring a smooth and stress-free registration process.

The Kandalore Leadership Scholarship
Type: Merit basedAmount: 50% Deadline: March 01, 2024 annually
Details: Eligible applicants are those born in 2007 who have a genuine interest, respect and concern for the well-being of others, who have a keen involvement in their school or community and who consistently work towards personal growth and development. Many Leaders move on to work as counsellors at Kandalore, and all successful applicants will build the social skills, confidence, creativity and independence that young people need to be successful in today’s world. This scholarship is applied towards our 4-week Pathfinder Leadership Program.
Application Details: Students can apply by completing an application form & submit 2 letters of reference or 2 reference contacts. Those applicants who qualify will be contacted for an interview with one of our Directors.

Director's Message
Camp Kandalore helps kids know and be themselves while thriving in an outdoor environment that is fun, caring, and challenges campers to grow. Our camp experience provides an opportunity to build self-esteem, independence, care and respect for others. Our parents see great value in the social and emotional growth that our campers return home with at the end of their camp stay.
Our incredible staff love helping our campers develop their skills over the course of the summer. The campers find so much pride when finally accomplishing a skill they have been working so hard to achieve. Whether they hit their first bullseye in archery, mastered their J stroke at canoeing, completed their first deep water roll in kayaking or learned how to get up on waterskis – each day brings new challenges and new accomplishments.
Staff and Counsellors
Acceptance. Belonging. Connection. These values shape Kandalore's staff culture. About 90% of our staff grew up at camp, moving from camper to Leader-in-Training to counsellor. That continuity gives us a team that knows our traditions, upholds our standards, and understands what it takes to help every camper feel at home. All staff complete a Criminal Record Check with Vulnerable Sector Screening and a comprehensive pre-camp training program covering camper care, inclusion, behaviour support, and safety. Trip leaders hold wilderness first aid and paddling certifications, and waterfront staff hold lifeguard certifications. Above all, we hire people with a genuine commitment to kids, who lead with patience, warmth, and good humour.

More details about property: For more than 75 years, Camp Kandalore has created a camp experience like no other, steeped in tradition, but always fresh. Today, we offer campers more than 30 different in-camp activities, from high ropes and pottery to water skiing.
Our camp faces onto the beautiful Lake Kabakwa in the Algonquin Highlands area. Our property consists of activity and accommodation spaces sprawling throughout a forested area and onto the lake.Accommodations

More details about accommodations: Campers live in cabins of four to ten people. Most of our cabins have electricity, with the exception of a few cabins for our eldest campers. Counsellors live in a separate room with the cabin, next door, or nearby. Indoor showers and flush toilets are also nearby.

Kandalore’s visiting participant and supervisor costs are based on a daily rate. A full-day includes three meals and an evening snack, accommodation, four activity blocks, all activity programming, and Kandalore staffing. Suitable for students from Grade 5 to university, Kandalore's Outdoor Education Centre promotes teamwork, problem-solving, decision-making, and leadership skills. Each Night campers sit down with their counsellor and select their own individual program for the next day! All Kandalore instructional classes are taught in groups within a section (i.e. same age group), with some co-ed group classes for our older campers. Campers have over 30 activities to choose from over the course of their stay at camp!

Climbing at Kandalore
Kandalore offers 4 different climbing experiences! First take on the challenge of our 3 story indoor climbing wall, then move out to our 3 outdoor natural rock climbing areas, you can also give our 65 foot tandem swing a shot and for a new challenge you can try out high ropes challenge course!
