Thanks Kettleby!!

My two daughters went to overnight camp for the first time last summer and had the time of their lives at Kettleby! We were all thrilled with this camp. The location, the price, the quality of lodging, food, staff and FUN was excellent! It was a life changing experience for them, literally. What made this exmade this exceptional for me as a parent:
-staff was excellent, very helpful, extremely attentive to the kids and according to my girls "a ton of fun".
-I have one picky eater and she came home and said that the food was "awesome'! Now that says something!!
-the fact that the swim programs are included (Bronze Star, etc.) was amazing to me, those are expensive programs otherwise
-the grounds are beautiful - when we went for the open house before camp started and it was our first time seeing an overnight camp, I felt like I was on a movie set. Quaint cabins throughout woodsy trails, very picturesque.
-the girls enjoyed being able to choose their activities for the day - that was a definite plus!
-the girls were amazed that the camp owner/director would walk around at meal times and sit down with kids and chat with them - I was very impressed with that as well! They felt like one big family!

Overall this was a completely positive experience for our family and we are already signed up for next summer and the girls can hardly wait!!

Thanks Kettleby!

I highly recommend it!

So glad Kettleby Camp is still thriving. I went there three summers in a row in the late 60s when it was known as Camp Richhilldaca. Our counselors were wonderful people, and I learned to love and respect nature rather than fear it. Kettleby camp was one of the very best experiences of my young life and one which I cherish now into my late 60s. I highly recommend it ... Show More

Best Day Camp Ever!

Best day camp ever! York Region has this treasure so close by, with bus transportation provided daily to & from home. Exceptional staff that value fun, respect, safety for all the campers. Recommend this location for the outdoor experience that has so many added features; wall climbing, archery, canoes, swimming pool, theme days, and a great lunch menu ... Show More

Bravo Kettleby!

Our son has gone to Kettleby every summer since he was 7 ~ it’s been 7 summers so far. This camp is an absolute gem and we are so thrilled to have such a high quality camp so close to home. Each year our son comes home with new stories, new friends and having had great experiences which will provide memories for a lifetime.

The day camp and overnight camp are run very well. Food is “awesome “ according to our son (they have the world’s best chicken burger according to him!). The staff are excellent and I believe that stems from the steady and humble ownership and filters down every level even to the trainees.

Our son (who already has the LIT qualifications) has the opportunity for a paid position this summer but instead wants to go back to do the LIT program at Kettleby as he’s always looked up to the leaders there and wants to be a part of that culture.

Bravo Kettleby! We can’t recommend you highly enough

OUR KIDS review of Kettleby Valley Camp

our take

It’s a truism, but worth repeating, that at camp there is more than meets the eye, and Kettleby is a great example of that. It’s a traditional camp, with all the traditional activities, from canoeing, to swimming, to hiking, to arts and crafts. There are some updates, too, including paintball. But, as director Peter Truman says, “all the activities really are a medium for us to help kids understand that trying new things isn’t a big deal.” And with that comes a lot of social, emotional, and physical growth and development, something that the Kettleby program actively brings to the fore. There has been a camp on this site since the late 1950s. The cities to the south have grown, and it’s not as far from the urban environment as it once was, though that brings a nice plus as well: it’s close to home, something that both parents and campers appreciate.
