My child had an amazing time at the Stand-up comedy camp. They learned a lot. They love to do improv and even tried out for a Kids Got Talent show. The camp gives her confidence and I will definitely keep sending them to the camp as long as they want to go. I am so happy that my child has found something they love. They are so brave to go on stage, and I never knew that they would have it in them to do improv.
My child is on the spectrum and when I saw the comedy camp I knew it would be perfect for them as they always get comedy parts in plays because they are so funny. The experience was well worth it. There were no hidden costs. Most of the stuff they needed was [included with] the camp.
The program was amazing because they brought in comics from big cities to help teach the kids which meant a lot to my child. It felt like the camp was making an effort to help these kids actually learn comedy and improv. Also, they brought in local talent, i.e. a drag queen, which my child thought was amazing. They got an autograph, so they were very happy.
My child does not make friends easily but they were able to get along quite well, and there was no bullying. All the kids were amazing at including everyone. I think in the arts everyone is so different, so it brings them together. I think my child has really found people they can hang out with, no matter what, and that is so satisfying.
They gained some social skills which is hard for them. Being on the spectrum really holds my child back from making friends but they have no problem on stage. They played different types of games and the improv games were my child's favorite and I did not realize how good they are at them! it was interesting to learn about my child's skills.
The instructors were amazing. They were so patient and worked well with the kids who were all so different. The staff were always outside at drop off and pick up to communicate about my child's day and make sure that they went with their parent. The management team was friendly and always around for questions
