The directors of Laurus are go getters, to be sure, which in itself is part of the program. It’s about mentorship, getting people together who are enthusiastic about living active, engaged lifestyles, and who can broadcast their enthusiasm effectively to young people. Founder Philip Cutler, at age 25, became the youngest councillor ever elected in Westmount, and he hasn’t slowed down since. He and cofounder Gabriel D'Amico-Mazza exemplify what it means to live a life engaged with the community that they live within, from physical fitness to philanthropy. Instructors are chosen with those attributes in mind, including experience in education. The activities are varied and broad, from yoga to guest speakers. Participants come away having had fun, though also jazzed about the entire experience, including the people they’ve met and the environments that they’ve experienced.
Dear Parents,
At Laurus, we are constantly adapting to improve our impact on the youth that we cater to in our communities. Our motivation stems from the significance of combining education with unforgettable aspects of the summer camp lifestyle. Our main goal is to ensure that children who attend our camp are learning throughout the summer and improving essential skills in creative and dynamic ways!
What distinguishes Laurus from most camps is our unique Specific Training Program that allows you and your child to choose what skills they want to immerse themselves in and improve on. For 75 minutes each day, your child will be learning in a fun and stimulating environment on the specific subject of their choice. Everyday our STA’s are different and every week follows a different theme so your child may stick to what they love all summer or can feel free to try new things by joining a different STA each week. You can customize your learning experience. Our categories for our Specific Training Areas include: Arts (dance, drama, cooking, art), academics (math, science, english, french, robotics and coding) and sports (soccer, basketball, fitness).
Our goal throughout the summer is to help children discover what they love to do and learn more about what they love. For our youngest campers (our juniors), this means giving them an opportunity to practice the essential skills they will need as they continue to grow! For our older campers (our leadership group), we’ve created a unique program where our younger teens can explore their skills and learn more about what they can do to make their communities a better place. With our #KIDSCAN entrepreneurship program, each of our camp locations takes the initiative to raise funds for local charity of their choice.
Our purpose at Laurus is to implement a healthy lifestyle in everything that we do. The motivation behind our daily smoothies, our zumba and yoga classes is to show our future leaders a lifestyle that is good for you inside and out and is most of all fun!
We hope that our LSC family continues to grow and that our dream of sparking discovery in the hearts and minds of all the campers we interact with every day continues to be our reality.
Best,
Alexandra Hiscox
Chief Executive Officer

Is Laurus Summer Camp technology free? We ask that parents do not send their children to camp with toys and electronics from home. However, we do offer a coding and robotics programs for children interested in this field.
For the past 3 years, our boys, 10 and 13, have been attending Laurus Summer Camp for the entire summer. From the various activities - fundraising for causes, sports, and cooking to the phenomenal counsellors - their summers are filled with joy. This camp inspires children to reach their full potential, it builds their confidence, and gets them thinking about the environment. I guarantee your children will skip out of bed to get to LSC camp!
I can certainly understand why we cannot convince our son to attend any other summer camp, even after 4 years. Laurus Summer Camp is by far his favorite place to spend his summer holidays! The instructors are awesome, each one is so attentive to the campers and incredibly dynamic. The STA program is so diverse, allowing the kids to explore several different activities although our son prefers their sports, sports and more sports! The lunch program is really helpful and the drop off location is so convenient for parents. We are so grateful to have stumbled onto Laurus Summer Camp over 4 years ago and we leave our son at the camp 5-7 weeks per summer with peace of mind knowing that Ava and crew are really looking after him and that he’s so happy to be there. Thank you Laurus team, keep up the amazing job! See you in 6 months!
This summer was our first at Laurus Summer Camp. What really makes Laurus stand out to me? The counsellors! They are friendly and energetic while having the maturity to deal with high energy kids. My son came home happy and excited to tell me about his day - EVERY DAY. We haven't experienced this with the other day camps he previously attended. He enjoyed ordering lunches several times a week, and ending his day with a refreshing smoothie. I loved that his days were well-rounded, filled with sports, crafts, science, and charity projects. We are already looking forward to next summer!
What a wonderful, warm group at Laurus summer camp. It was our sons first year joining and he loved every moment of it!! The sports games , the fun... it was a wonderful experience!! A safe , fun place! Loved the counsellors!
