My daughter attended the first time in Discovery Medics Camp in the summer of 2023. She had such a great experience. She had the opportunity to learn about different kinds of doctors, what their responsibilities are; learned about body parts/organs, their functions etc. I enjoyed the moments when she came home and shared her day in the camp. I’m impressed with how much she has learned in the camp and she also met many new friends there. The camp staff are responsible, friendly and enthusiastic. Highly recommended and we are going back this year!
I heard about Medics Camp from a friend. After reading the information about the camp, it sounds very interesting. I have introduced it to my daughter, as well as showing her pictures from the website. She shows a lot of interest and that’s why we decided to register. And I’m glad that it did not disappoint us. I love to see the smile on my daughter’s face every day when I pick her up. All fees were clearly listed on their website and there were no hidden costs that would have surprised me.
My daughter had some expectations on what the camp would be after reading the info and it turned out to be more than she expected. She was a “doctor” throughout the camp and she was able to try and learn different doctors/specialists’ jobs. She learned how to do CPR in the camp, and came home to practice it with a doll LOL. I’m happy with the overall quality and experience that my daughter had in this camp.
As mentioned before, my daughter was happy and made new friends in the camp. The camp leaders/staff were friendly, responsible and enthusiastic. I was not aware of any issues among the kids in the camp that my daughter attended. In addition, when the weather permits, they have picnic lunch outdoors and different activities. The camp provided good opportunities for campers to socialize and mingle with other campers.
My daughter has learned and developed new skills/knowledge throughout the Medics camp. E.g. she learned about the breathing process. How the air is inhaled, goes through the lungs, how the lungs react and then exhale air to complete a breathing cycle. I like how the camp introduces health science topics that relate to our daily lives. She starts to pay more attention to surrounding things and asks questions of “how”, “what” and “why”. Love to see the change in her observational skills. In addition, she also learned the basic steps of doing first aid CPR. She understands what needs to be done in an emergency situation and how she could help to save life.
On the first day, we attended the camp, I saw lots of friendly faces. We had a warm welcome from the staff and my daughter felt comfortable walking into the classroom even though it was the first time she was there. The organizer of the camp, Amanda, is amazing! She’s very responsive and answers questions on a timely basis.
I would recommend this Medics Camp to my friends who are looking for a quality and fun summer camp for their children. In my opinion, the Medics Camp provides a unique, think-out-of-the-box experience to the campers. The activities they have are very different than other traditional camps. I wish I had known about it earlier and would have sent my daughter in past summers.
My younger daughter attended the FALCON Camp 2 years ago when she was 13. She learned and practiced First Aid knowledge in the camp, and even today she feels very proud of the Canadian Red Cross Firs...
