Last week I said goodbye to our LEAD (Leadership Experience and Discipleship) interns…each on a journey to return to their homes to wait out these ever changing times. The end of LEAD came 5 weeks earlier than I had hoped or planned. In these times of changing plans and heaps of uncertainty, I am being reminded of the things I can be certain of: the Faithfulness of God and the importance of people to be on the journey together. I am also being reminded to delight. Today as I was leaving the house, my three year old was singing the song “if you’re happy and you know it clap your hands”. My one year old was enthusiastically clapping along. They were smiling from ear to ear oblivious of all other cares. Moments like this remind me of summer…with camp filled with kids playing freely…delighting in the freedom of play and of togetherness…a reminder to be present regardless of all the information swirling around us.
Matthew 11:28-30 “Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy and my burden is light.”
Despite there being no Guest Groups this Spring, my role still looks similar to before. I am actively recruiting staff and planning program for summer at the Lodge. Regardless of what the Summer looks like, I know that God goes before, He knows the future, and I don’t need to worry about tomorrow. I have amazing Directors and staff who are keen to be at camp and to share the love of Jesus with campers. In times of turmoil, how much more important is it to rest in the peace of Christ and find strength in the joy of the LORD. If you know anyone who would love to be on mission with us this summer, we are still looking for wranglers, program staff, lifeguards, and kitchen staff.
Blessings to you on the journey.
