Why I‘m still involved with Pioneer Camp.
Alberta Pioneer has been a part of my whole life, first as a staff kid, then camper, LIT, and staff member in various roles, and it is now my honour to serve as the Summer Director at Pioneer Ranch, Rocky Mountain House. As a camper, Pioneer was a place where I could have fun, try new things, learn new skills, make friends and safely explore what it meant to follow Jesus. As a young leader I learned so much about myself, Jesus, leadership and was called into a way of life that is dynamic, adventurous, faith-filled and deeply connected to people and Creation. Pioneer has and continues to change my life, making it richer and fuller all the time.
This summer will mark my 33rd summer spending time at Pioneer and even now I still get excited as I drive up the driveway. I love to see campers and staff be challenged physically, emotionally, mentally and spiritually together. I firmly believe that we are still modeling, teaching, and calling staff and campers to live lives that follow Jesus, are adventurous, purposeful and a whole lot of fun. What we do matters deeply and I am so grateful for all that I have and continue to learn, and now get to share with others.
