Medics Camp launched it's one of a kind first aid leadership camp for teens called FALCON in 2022. Over 75 teens attended and received their Red Cross standard first aid and CPR level C certification as part of their camp week. FALCON (first aid leadership camp onsite) was developed and is taught by Medics Camp founder, Amanda Farris who is both a certified Red Cross instructor and certified STEM educational instructor. She has infused her 25+ years of healthcare and leadership experience into a unique program for teens ages 13-17 that not only teaches them first aid skills but also provides them an opportunity to get Red Cross certified during their camp week at no additional cost. This is the same course taught to adults and the requirements remain the same for certification but because FALCON has small group sizes, personalized attention and skills are taught and practiced by teens over 5 days, the success rate last year was 99%.
First aid skills are life skills and learning them early will better prepare teens for the future. The leadership component of FALCON emphasizes communication skills, team building and self confidence. Many camps say teens will have fun and make friends and this program can support that claim based on the 12 amazing FALCON graduates who will be joining the Medics Camp leadership team this summer with friends they made during their camp week and who have kept in touch ever since.
Program dates and camp locations in Richmond Hill and Markham for FALCON can be found on their website Spaces are limited and they are only at one location each week over 5 weeks so if you have a teen between the ages of 13-17 who is interested in a healthcare career or simply wants to learn first aid and leadership skills they will want to make time to attend FALCON by Medics Camp.
