Registration is Open for The YES Camp 2026 Season!

Registration is Open for The YES Camp 2026 Season! The Youth Excellence Society (YES) is a charitable organization that provides exceptional leadership training to British Columbia’s youth. For 50 years, The YES has been providing a unique learning experience for over 15,000 youth across BC. The YES creates communities where youth thrive and inclusion, mental health, resiliency, and growth are supported and encouraged.

Registration for our largest program, our week-long summer camps for youth aged 14-18 located at Cowichan Lake on Vancouver Island, is now open for the 2026 summer season! This year, we are offering seven weeks of camp, 4 for our Roots program and 3 for our Pathways program.

Roots Camps are designed for 14-16 year olds (or for 13 year olds who have completed grade 8). Pathways Camps are for 16-18 year olds. While Roots and Pathways have similar schedules, themes, and activities, Pathways programs have more advanced workshops and benefit from having many return participants present who are ready to jump in and form strong, supportive communities.

At camp, we offer skills training to teenagers in the areas of self-awareness, co-operation, communication, environmental sustainability, inclusion, and leadership. Our history is in the co-operative movement, and we strive to equip youth with these co-operative leadership values to take with them in whatever endeavours they pursue. Alongside our innovative, experiential approach to education, teens are also screen-free for the full week giving them the space to connect with themselves, each other, nature, plus new ideas, skills and a perspective of what is possible in the world. Through swimming, canoeing, tie-dying, theatre sports, active games, and more, youth participate in a variety of activities throughout the week.

Comparing our 2025 survey responses to the 2023/2024 BC Public School’s Student Learning Survey, our camp consistently rated above public schools in being a place where participants feel like they belong (82.3% vs 53%), learn how to better express their emotion (65.3% vs 35%), learn how to better care for their mental health (57% vs 30%) and improve their social skills (79.1% vs 58%). In addition, 89% of participants enjoyed their break from technology, 83% of participants significantly improved their sense of self-worth, 78% of participants improved their knowledge and understanding of how to be more inclusive, and 82% of participants improved their communication skills
