We are so grateful for all the support we received to run a successful summer camp in 2020!
For us, summer is the most exciting time of the year! That's when all the year-round work pays off, all the planning and preparations can finally be put into action and first and foremost that's when all the fun happens! Seeing how campers make new friends, learn new skills, discover new things, is priceless and for us the reason why we do what we do! And in 2020 we didn't want to miss out on those magical summer weeks!
For many months it was unclear if in-person camp could happen at all in 2020. We put all the wheels in motion to prepare for any scenario and guidelines to run in-person camp. When it finally was clear that camp could happen, the excitement was huge! All protocols to implement all the necessary Public Health guidelines were put into action immediately, staff was trained and the program adjusted to the new reality.
After all the preparation, the waiting and uncertainty, we were able to run 7 weeks of in-person camp. Those weeks gave kids the opportunity to be with their peers, bond with camp counsellors, try new things, play outside and simply be a child again through and through.
We are humbled that, with the support and trust of our camp families, staff and campers, we were able to offer kids some sort of a 'normal' summer in the most uncertain times. And now we are pushing full steam ahead to prepare a spectacular Summer Camp 2021! With new programs and bringing back field trips and other highlights!
