What do you do differently or uniquely well?
"Through the Children and Teen's camps/courses provided at OSA, students are able to express their creativity through hands-on experience exploring different artistic themes and subject matter. They have the opportunity to use a variety of mediums and be around other like-minded individuals within their age group. All art materials and supplies (not including cameras) are provided by the Ottawa School of Art Children's Department."
Who are your staff and counsellors?
"Our OSA instructors each bring valuable experience and skill to the courses taught in our Children and Teen's programs. Whether is be drawing, painting, printmaking, animation, textile design, photography or fashion design, each instructor brings unique knowledge from their artistic practice. "

The Ottawa School of Art began as a civic association in 1879 intending to help promote the fine arts. One of the first orders of business was to promote the creation of the National Gallery of Canada, which it successfully did. While it doesn’t share the stature of the National Gallery—and, indeed, no arts organization in the country does—the School has been an important part of the life of the city throughout its long life. The spaces and resources are varied, as are the programs on offer, from residencies, to credit courses, to community engagement. The children’s programs seek to inspire interest in the arts, and to appeal to the various curiosities that children have, from how things are created, to the people do who the creating. Sessions range from drawing and printmaking to cartooning, animation, and fashion design. Children who enroll are presented a unique opportunity to take part in the life of a premiere arts institution and to meet the artists who, in turn, give it life. That experience alone can be transformative. Sessions are fun, accessible, and well administered.
Is Ottawa School of Art technology free? All technology provided except for photography classes. Children and teens will have to provide their own cameras for these classes.

Summer Camps at the Ottawa School of Art are always a busy, fun, and exciting time! The OSA offers a full slate of exhilarating kids and teens classes at both our ByWard Market and Orleans Campuses.
In the summertime at OSA, we shift our focus to our Summer Art Camps for children and youth. For younger children these classes offer rich experiences in drawing, painting, printmaking and sculpture that are built around enjoyable and engaging themes. Classes for older children and youth are more focused on specific media or disciplines such as animation, cartooning and fashion design, to name a few. The programs at both campuses are a great opportunity for children and youth, ages 6 to 15, to take part in an enriching and stimulating visual arts experience.
I encourage you to sign up for a camp or two this summer; you'll make new friends and create some amazing art. It’s a great time of year to get creative at OSA's ByWard Market and Orleans Campus!
