OUR KIDS review of Silver Lake Mennonite Camp

Unforgettable camp experiences are what sets Silver Lake Mennonite Camp apart from the rest. Personal growth is on the docket, along with new friendships, and lifelong memories. Welcoming is just one adjective that describes the feel of this camp, as campers of all backgrounds enjoy their time here. The staff are graduates of a two-year leadership program, and most have first-hand experience as campers themselves. The fresh, local, and homemade food made by the Mennonites could be the top reason campers come back year after year. There’s no writing home to mom about bad food here! The facilities are new or newly renovated, so campers feel quite at home. The programming is said to be exceptional, with activities tailored to each age group. The great outdoors is a prime focus, with water activities, campfires, field games, climbing, low ropes, and gardening (and more). Older campers can take a specialized camp—either boating or music—to learn skills and enjoy activities outside of the general programs. Silver Lake Mennonite Camp is an inclusive community for everyone, and is proud of their program that helps children with developmental needs attend the regular program. Financial assistance is also available. This camp is truly for everyone.

    Director's Message

Silver Lake Mennonite Camp, Alissa Bender, Executive Director
Thank you for taking the time to look at our profile. We are confident that you will find what you are looking for among the many programs we offer. We look forward to welcoming your child as one of our campers. This summer we are offering Adventure Day Camps in 5 Ontario locations, and lots of variety in our Overnight Camps too! The heart of our camp is the staff and the care and programming they provide to campers. The Silver Lake staff will be providing the same care and creativity at all locations this summer – Please check the list to see if there is one near you.

Our goal is to provide an exciting environment where personal growth is fostered by building community, encouraging personal discovery, outdoor skills and environmental care. Silver Lake has been offering meaningful camp experiences for 65 years at our Sauble Beach overnight camp and, more recently, by bringing Silver Lake to you!

    Staff and Counsellors

Most of our staff are lifelong Silver Lakers who have completed our two-year leadership program, gaining hands-on training in camper care and leadership. They know firsthand the lasting impact of the Silver Lake community. All staff receive extensive professional development and hold Standard First Aid with CPR, with nearly half certified as lifeguards. Our on-site camper-to-staff ratio is an impressive 2:1, ensuring safety and strong relationships. Bottom line: our staff are here because they love working with kids!
