This camp is designed to build the following character traits:

  • Independence: Participants gain skills which allow them to thrive in nature.
  • Resilience: Participants are challenged and gain confidence in their ability to overcome adversity in a supportive atmosphere.

Our Frontier Canoe Tripping program is designed as a perfect introduction to longer canoe trips! After spending their first two days learning the basic skills and techniques of canoe tripping, youth will set off on a 4 day trip through the majestic Haliburton Highlands Water Trails!

The trip is moderately paced, but not overly gruelling or demanding so that youth have an opportunity to have a fun first trip on the water. 

The trip is on well-travelled lakes that are free of motor vessels, while at the same time not being extremely remote. Safety skills are a top priority, and participants learn the essential skills from paddling, to what to do in case of a tipped boat. Experienced guides accompany the trip, and PFDs are mandatory while on the water.
