Who are you as an organization?
Steamoji is a STEM / STEAM maker academy for kids that trains builders, makers, inventors and entrepreneurs. We believe that the best way to prepare for a world of accelerating change is to train our children with the foundational skills and mindsets to build solutions to the problems of their future.

Steamoji allows for structured, individualized learning in a safe and controlled environment where we can maintain physical distancing requirements and allow children to grow by being able to access our unique program in the safety of our academies. We have an online booking system for our individual workstations which are separated by physical dividers like walls and partitions. In addition, apprentices and staff are required to wear masks at all times and employees and youth ages 12+ must show proof of full-vaccination.
In order to serve families who may not feel comfortable attending our academies in-person, or who simply live too far away, we also offer a 10-week virtual program with weekly sessions held over Zoom. We will mail out a kit of tools and materials to get started and then you can join a class with 4-6 other apprentices and a Steamoji instructor. Visit https://www.steamoji.com/virtual.html for more information.

We have our child in this program and it is excellent. It fills a niche between learning things that are abstract and building things to completion. It’s a well designed program and the instructors are very good.

At school, my older son was often afraid of trying new things for fear of making a mistake, of being wrong. I thought this was terrible as I haven't achieved anything significant on my first attempt. It usually takes a series of attempts - of trial, failure, success and iteration - to build anything of significance.
I wanted to expose my two sons to design thinking and maker skills to address this, but struggled to find a solution. I was overwhelmed by the number of project options available on Amazon (try searching for 'STEM kits'!). My sons enjoyed projects at local maker spaces over Summer camps, but where was the progression when they showed an interest in learning more?
An entreprenuer at heart, I started working with a group of other parents to try to come up with a solution. This is how Steamoji was born.
“Quite simply, I am building Steamoji to better prepare my sons to proactively take on the challenges of their future.”
Let's get building!

THE BUILDING BLOCKS OF THE STEAMOJI CURRICULUM
As apprentices move through our 400-hour Build to Solve curriculum, they’ll complete Missions across four key pathways: Fabrication, Physical Computing, Engineering and Digital Arts.
Each Mission includes a series of smaller projects that are designed to teach apprentices to master a key skill or concept within the pathway they’re currently working on. This format helps kids to develop a strong foundation of STEM knowledge while simultaneously sharpening their brainstorming, planning, and problem-solving skills.
Subject Pathways
Fabrication: This pathway is all about designing and building physical structures through both additive and subtractive methods, such as 3D printing and laser cutting.
Physical Computing: This pathway is about combining coding with machines to create interactive and intelligent systems that can perform real-world tasks, such as robots and technological devices.
Engineering: This pathway explores science and math in a fun and interactive way, teaching apprentices to create physical structures that perform tasks and solve problems, including simple and complex machines.
Digital Arts: This pathway shows apprentices how to use digital tools to channel their creativity and transform their ideas into engaging content, such as animation and game design.
