True North Sports Camps answered our questions

Who are you as an organization?

True North Sports Camps offers year-round sports programs for boys & girls ages 4–14 including baseball, flag-football, basketball, soccer & multi-sport. Our energetic coaches teach young athletes the fundamentals of each sport in a fun and pressure free environment that emphasizes sportsmanship, teamwork and fair play. Join us in 2024 in Toronto and Etobicoke!

What do you do differently or uniquely well?

"At TNSC, we believe that recreational sports are an important part of every child’s
development and we make it our priority to deliver a truly memorable experience.
With low camper to staff ratio, our outstanding coaches are committed to building
an individual rapport with each and every camper.

All of our energetic TNSC coaches are experts in their sport, who love to share their
knowledge of the game while stressing the importance of sportsmanship, teamwork
and fair play. We focus on creating an encouraging environment where all players
learn something new, stay active and have fun!"

Who are your staff and counsellors?

"From camp directors to CITs, we simply hire the best. While having playing or coaching experience is certainly important, it's not our main priority. Most importantly, our coaches are able to create a positive environment for our campers, allowing them to have fun and forge lasting friendships. All of our coaches have diverse backgrounds in playing and/or coaching competitive teams. Our staff are able to make sure every camper has the best experience possible with our low 6:1 camper to counsellor ratio (even lower for the younger age groups). "

What do families need to know about registration?

"Registering for our programs is a breeze! Whether you're eager to join our spring, fall, or winter clinics, or looking forward to securing a spot at our exciting summer camp in 2024, we've got you covered. You can register through our website or by calling the office.

Registration opens approximately one month before the commencement of our spring, fall, and winter clinics. It's a great idea to register early to secure your spot, as we have limited openings, and they fill up fast. For those excited about our summer camp in 2024, pre-registration opens on October 15.

Don't miss out on the opportunity to enhance your skills, make new friends, and have a fantastic time with us. Register quickly to ensure your place in our exciting programs!"

The Our Kids review of True North Sports Camps

    our take

If you’ve ever attended one of the Our Kids camp expos, you’ll have seen a clot of kids gathered constantly around the True North booth. There’s a great reason for that: True North was founded by young people for young people to have a lot of fun with young people. Kids, rightly, love it, and the reason is the vibrancy and expertise of the counsellors that run the various programs. There is method to any madness, and skill building, including team skills and sports specific practice are top priorities. But, it’s a credit to the camp that it’s the joy of involvement with others that has become the hallmark of True North. There’s nothing quite like it, as any of those kids crowding the expo booth will tell you, if you’re able to get their attention.

    Flag Football Camp

My boys' loved their 1 week at touch football camp (Toronto - Memorial). They both say it was their favourite of the 3-4 camps we tried this year. Program seems very well run and was very accommodating. My 2 were the youngest in the group (almost 7 & 9) but kids and staff were all very warm and inclusive. We'll be back next year for longer. ... First Year in Markham

This was True North's first year in Markham. It was a great experience for my son at baseball camp. He was given the opportunity to work on many of his skills that he will use in his upcoming games! He wants to go back next year for another week or two! I would definitely recommend this camp. Very professional and child centered. ... Show More

    5 Star Service!!!

I booked their coach to come over to host a kids birthday party for about 20 kids. They arrived 40 min. early to set it up, sat down with the birthday boy and see how they could make his party better, took care of the kids who were a little shy and didn't know how to get into the game. I was impressed by how great the crew was with kids, especially Shantel. Totally recommend!!! 5 Star service!! ... Show More

First-time True North baseball camp parent

As a first-time True North baseball camp parent, I was immediately impressed by the enthusiastic and responsible councillors in comparison to other camps we've attended. They would greet us warmly every morning and whisk Isaiah away to start some activity. At the end of the day, he was always smiling and sweaty from an active day. My son also had rave reviews everyday about the skills he was learning and hopes to return next year. The report at the end of the week was the icing on the cake and he eagerly showed the whole family. Thanks for a great week ... Show More

    You have found the magic!!!

Just got home and had to write you all about what an amazing week Ahren, Logan, Chase, and Tim had. Again this year I am truly staggered by the unbelievable rapport you build with the kids and the level of instructional expertise you've offered them. As a teacher and mom to 3 boys, I have truly never seen anything like this. You inspired Logan so dramatically last year that his select NT involvement this year (abandoning his diehard Leaside allegiance) is a direct result of who you are as people. Logan has again announced his intent to become 'just like you guys', not just as a ball-player, but as a coach and all-round 'grown up'. Now you've inspired Ahren in the same way. Ahren announced in the van just now that he will try-out for A or Select baseball next season and will find out about becoming a CIT with you next summer. Honestly, kudos to you all — you have found the magic. If only we teachers could take a lesson from all of you, I can only imagine what would be possible in the classroom. Truly, thank you. Have an incredible summer ... Show More

    Very impressed with the staff!

To begin, I just wanted to say what a great time Max had at camp last week! He thoroughly enjoyed himself and was still talking about it today on our way to soccer camp!!! From my perspective, I cannot tell you how impressed I am with the staff. They are so enthusiastic and excited - it is literally contagious as you can see it in all of the kids faces at both drop off and pick-up! So thank you and congrats to your entire team ... Noah had the most amazing time! He absolutely loved your camp! I just wanted to reach out and let you know how profoundly Noah was affected by the wonderful program and amazing staff. Last night Noah woke up briefly in the middle of the night and was singing the flag football chant he learned and he told me how much he missed the guys. He will definitely be spending more time with your camp next year!

      Thanks again!

    • Baseball Camp

Just a note to say WOW! Connor had a blast this week at baseball camp! You guys put on a great camp and really know how to work with all the kids, at every age and every level. Connor has such a love for the game and this week was perfect for him! He'll be back next year for sure! For Connor, this week was truly unforgettable..."Mom, Dice K is a coach" (you know he's a huge Red Sox fan) to the secret hand shake with Gabe and a big thanks to Simon for the shades! Thanks guys... you a€™re the best! I always like to tell people when they've done a great job... especially when it comes to my kids!

    • Baseball Camp

Hi Guys - I have to tell you just how much Harrison loved the camp. You guys did a great job, were fantastic with the kids and the "report cards" you handed out were really helpful. Harrison, as you know, is fairly new to baseball but has really developed a taste for the game and you guys just made it all the better for him. He has read the report card over and over. Thanks again for a great two weeks.

    • Baseball Camp

Our son Justin attended the NT Baseball camp in one of the hottest weeks all summer! Even with the scorching temperatures he was excited to go to camp everyday with no complaints. He LOVED it. Justin tells us he learned more at 1 week of camp than he did all season with his baseball team. He learned so much that he was "star of the game" the week of baseball camp!! Thanks to all the guys - it was a fantastic week and we look forward to doing a couple of weeks next year.

    • Baseball Camp

My son Sam was in your session the week of August 9 to 13. I wanted to give you a quick note to say that Sam had an absolutely fantastic week. Every night he came home with a new skill and was anxious to demonstrate what he had learned. The attention he received and the great feedback he received from you and the other coaches was tremendous for building his confidence. As you noticed, Sam has a lot of fun playing and wants to be the best player he can be. I found your Skills Evaluation form very specific and very focused, which means you were paying attention to what he does well and where he needs to improve. We read it to him on the car ride up to the cottage on Friday and he identified with all the feedback for improvement. He had a big smile when you called him All Star of the Week. Thanks again for making this a special summer for Sam. See you next year!
