This program is designed to build the following character traits:

  • Self-regulation: Learning to draw is a process that demands determination and courage on the part of the practitioner. A student must be willing to stick with repeating a number of training exercises for as long as it takes to achieve the desired result. Self-discipline and patience are naturally cultivated.
  • Creativity: Drawing is an art form. The practice of drawing cultivates creativity. Right brain, intuitive problem solving skills strengthen in the practitioner over time.

Our Open Life Drawing sessions take place on Wednesdays, between January 11th to February 22nd, at 6-9pm.

These sessions are three hours long with appropriate breaks. The poses range from 30 second gestures to extended poses of ½ hour or longer.

Drawing boards, benches and a live model are provided by APW. You bring your own pencils, graphite and paper. No paints or wet media are permitted in these sessions – only drawing.

All sessions take place at St Matthew’s United Church, 729 St Clair Avenue West.

Completed registration and full payment is required before attending.

COVID-19 Protocol: Please bring a mask. St Matthew’s United Church requires mask wearing in the common spaces of the building. Individual models may request mask wearing for any session in APW’s studio space. In the interest of safety, APW reserves the right to turn away any participant who is visibly ill.
