One Week Intro-Camp Session

Hurontario's one week intro-camp program was designed over twenty years ago to give young boys the chance to dip their toes into the water of overnight summer camp life and discover for themselves all the amazing things Hurontario has for them to try. Tailored to the needs and interests of those attending, the seven day program allows campers to try many of our most popular activities: sailing, kayaking, rock climbing, arts and crafts, archery, low ropes, high ropes, biology, tie-dye, ziplining, woodworking, giant inflatable jungle gym, and swimming. Campers receive 24-hour dedicated supervision and care from their two counsellors who are there every minute of the day and night to make sure their campers are happy, healthy, safe, and feeling supported in what may be their first time away from home. Special events just for intro-campers include games and movie nights, s'mores cookouts, scavenger hunts, trips to the jumping towers, and of course bedtime storytellings from their counsellors. If demand is high, campers may also adventure off-island for an overnight camping trip at a nearby camp-owned island. After one week at camp, intro-campers can experience a life-changing development in their self-confidence, curiosity, and interpersonal skills as they experience the adventure of summer camp for the first time with their new friends and strong counsellor role models by their side. Campers may begin the week unsure of themselves but end the week confident and proud to deliver a tour of the island and all their favourite places to their parents who are encouraged to visit the camp on pick-up day. We often hear from parents that their son spends the car ride home talking non-stop about their week at camp and all the amazing things they saw and did. Campers either return for another intro-camp week the following summer or graduate to our two week or three and a half week sessions.
