This camp is designed to build the following character traits:
Curiosity: Curiosity about yourself and the world around you is key to success at this camp--you'll be encouraged to think more deeply on what it means to be a global citizen and your place in the world. Explore differing ways of life and dig deep into global issues and new customs.
Independence: Nothing encourages independence like international travel! Gain the confidence to travel away from your family and navigate a new culture.
Journey to East Africa and bring your leadership skills to the next level! This experience is ideal for those looking to explore a new culture, make new friends, and get hands-on experience in the field of education through volunteer work. Learn from local leaders and meet teens from across North America (and the world!) as you spend two weeks working, playing, and learning together.
In the mornings, we'll wake early and head to a local elementary school, where we'll engage in a variety of projects classroom teaching, making lesson plans, and community-led school infrastructure initiatives. After lunch, enjoy our beautiful Home Base, dive deep to discover our individual paths, including exploring our leadership styles and professional and educational goals for the future. We'll also hike the base of Mt. Kilimanjaro, go on a real African safari, and participate in various art workshops.
